While driving home tonight, The 40's on XM played Harbor Lights by Sammy Kaye and his orchestra. Very nice non-pedal steel. Does anyone know who it was?

Hey BEN!

Great question..........

I heard that it was the guy playing 3rd Chair Trombone and doubling on steel but then again, this is an unconfirmed rumor with no known witness of good character.

How 'bout the steel player in Ray Coniff's Orchestra?
I wonder who that is..........

If The Recording Was Made In Los Angeles, It Seems Likely That FREDDIE TAVARES Would Have Been The Steel Guitar Player. Smile

No, but I do know that the steel guitar at the beginning of the Looney Tunes theme, which was recorded in LA, was played by a studio percussionist.
