Back in the 60s and 70s when I was playing rock guitar in the mid-atlantic(NY to Fla)night club scene in top 40 bands,it was not uncommon to run into guys like that. I remember several trumpet/keyboard players,a trumpet/tap bass player,a trumpet/drummer,several drummer/bass players(one who tapped a horizontal Fender bass on a stand with one hand and one who played a Rhodes bass piano w/one hand) and Donald Quisenberry from Bill Deal & the Rhondells who played valve trombone/5 string bass. But my favorite was the late great Ronnie Hedland from Norfolk - a singing drummer who played keys with his right hand - all simultaneous and all genius level. Just brilliant. Sang like Ray Charles. My dear friend Ronnie was murdered for no particular reason in 1998 in Toronto.
Here's another one. Howard Levy. Howard played with Bela Fleck for a while. What makes this guy incredible is the way he can get chromatic scales in any key on a 10 hole diatonic blues harp by note bending. Nobody else can do that to my knowledge - especially while playing world class jazz piano.

Michael, there's a harp player from Tacoma WA, Jay Mabin, who studied with Howard Levy and can also play chromatic lines on a standard diatonic harp. I first heard him when I was about 20 and he was 12 and he could blow hot blues way back then.
I agree these links are incredible _________________ www.facebook.com/countrydaveharmonson |

There was a guy around Nashville in the 80's name of Ray Mann who could play a really good Ray Price shuffle on bass and drums at the same time...I wonder what ever happened to him? |

In music conservatories insanely complicated multi tasking is the norm for percussion majors. Its frightening how skilled those kids are.
I played with Hasel Atkins a bit. He was the wildest multi instrument player I ever met. If you are wondering he is just like you think he is...

Mike, thanks so much for the link....LOVE the tune..!!
Paul, I found it funny all 4 of the quadruplets are wearing the same shirt...I'll bet their Mom dressed them that way when they were kids too...!! Hahahaaa!! Seriously, that is absolutely killer playing..!!
Being a harmonica player, I found this guy while web surfing. Thank goodness he doesn't play steel..!! Amazing musician...!!! It is a 6 minute video, watch it all the way through...
