As some of you may know I have limited motion in my right foot due to a car wreck a few years ago. I am not able to use the full travel of a standard volume pedal, I can only use the "front" 1/2-2/3 of travel. This has led to me turning my amp down and loosing a bunch of sustain/harmonics as well as killing my foot trying to get it back far enough. I had been pretty serious about quitting.
Enter Dave Beaty and the Telonics crew. After a phone conversation or two he thought they could come up with a solution. Did they ever! They built me a special volume pedal that looks just like the Telonics FP-100 but it has about 1/3 less travel in the "back" or "off" position. The pedal still goes from full off to full on like a normal pedal would do, just in a shorter throw. It has all of the features of all FP-100 pedals. Selectable tapers, minimum on, and impedance control. Dave has called several times to make sure the pedal is just right. He has told me numerous times that if it was not perfect, to send it back and they would make it perfect. That type of service is almost unheard of in this day and age.
The transparency of this pedal is amazing. I have used a "pot" pedal as long as I have been playing. I was concerned about making the change fearing I would have a tone change for the worse. That is not the case at all. Although the pedal does provide an adjustment to load the pickup making it sound like a pot pedal, I find it best to leave it wide open. My tone changed all right. It changed for the better. Everything is so clear and the string separation is amazing!
I really cannot stress enough how much this pedal has done for me and my playing.
If anyone in the area would like to give it a test run even though it is different from the standard model, I encourage you to give me a holler and you can give it a whirl.
Thank you Dave and the entire Telonics crew!
Best,

Justin,
Don't forget that your Telonics Pedal has an external sensor input. You can get a hat and a sensor from Dave that will allow you to control the volume by tilting you head up and down. So if you foot gets tired during the session, just plug in the sensor and continue. Unplug it and the pedal is back to normal. |

Thanks for the reminder Marvin. Dave has offered the hat and sensor. He has some neat other ideas too. As of now, I am able to use the pedal pretty well. If the time comes that I can't, I'll bet Dave and the gang will be right there to help.
Best,
