This is a square neck reso guitar probably made in the 40's-50's. It is all solid mahogany but was spray painted and finished over black along the way. It has a dearmond gold foil pickup bolted to the top!!! Original cone, biscuit, tuners and coverplate. White plastic binding. I put some felt under the cone, restrung it and wired the pickup properly. The guitar has lots of scratches, nicks, a repaired crack on the lower bout and a nasty repair to the jack region. which is solid, it just doesn't look neat.
It has that great single cone sound but is mellow and beautiful as well. It is a square neck guitar, made to be played in your lap.
During this time, National made reso guitars with wood bodies made in chicago by regal and kay. This guitar is unlabeled, but shares the same body size and shape of nationals from this time period. The headstock shape looks like other Kay guitars I have seen. This would be a real bargain for anybody who plays blues, americana or folk.
no case, sorry. |
