This is an old Hawaiian love song, made famous by Willie K and others, also recorded by the Waikiki Hawaiian Orchestra. This version on lap steel guitar: Steelocaster (A6 tuning) and Charvel Jackson acoustic (DADF#AD tuning) was inspired by the version by Dennis Pavao from his CD "Sweet Leilani. Also known as "My Sweet Sweeting". All tracks by me.

Ku'u 'ohu lei anunuenue
Ko'iaweawe nei i ke pili
'O ka pai a ka makani Kiu
Ka 'iniki 'ana iho welawela

Ho'i mai kaua e pili
My sweet sweeting
'A'ohe pili hemo 'ole i ke kau
My sweet sweeting

Yes, it is a very old song. The title seems to be slightly different from one recording to another. The Dennis Pavao album calls it "My Sweet Sweeting"
A nice tune no matter what! Very Happy

There's a nice version played by Gabby on steel on "Hawaii's Favorite Steel and Slack Key Volume 2" (title may not be exact). I think it's listed as "My Sweet Sweetie".

Kay, nice job as always!

Grateful for the appreciation and apologies for the late acknowledgement. Have been on travel in Europe (with steel guitar, of course...)

Happy New Year!

Here is a second version of this tune, played more in an "instrumental" style compared to the first, which was slanted more towards the vocal style of Dennis Pavao.

Enjoy!

Just love this tune....have played often at gigs these past few weeks....I do not know as yet who wrote it...

Also, discovered in my library a notably sweet steel guitar version of this tune by Greg Sardinha. From his album Hawaiian Steel Vol 4. Listen if you get the chance.

Here is a version on ukulele by Peter Moon. Does not get any better..

Enjoy!

Kay, that's lovely.

A question about the Youtube Video...Do you happen to know what microphone is strapped to Peter Moon's ukulele?
