OK .I did it... bought a new Roland 80XL. Great amp but just not me. I guess I'm a Peavy guy. (Sound is in the ear of the beholder.) Anyway... anyone that wants to try their ear out. I have a 4 week old Roland 80 XL with all the paperwork $300 shipped CUSA. Would consider partial trade for a Nashville 400. Very Happy

I just got one last week, this would have saved me some money.
Oh well that's the way it goes.
Good deal on a great amp , for guitar anyway, don't know about steel but I've read a lot of good reviews of guys using the Cube 80XL for steel.
Free bump at least! Good luck w your sale!

Don I haven't tried the amp for the fiddle or guitar but I can say they are a great little amp for steel. With the different modeling settings there sould be one that fits your needs. Very Happy

The Roland is a power packed, lite amp.

I havn't played my steel for about 3 years and i'm considering selling my nash 112 and getting a versatile amp for acoustic and fiddle but i'm hoping some one will chime in that's tried the cube with fiddle and acoustic.

Don I have one of these amps and I play my Acoustic guitar thru it and it is amazing. I set it on the acoustic amp model and it does not change the tone of my acoustic at all it just makes the volume louder and the acoustic sounds as good as it does when it is not hooked to the amp. I also play my epiphone ES-335 thru it and it is sounds great. Don do you still have the Peavey EDI box for sale?

Jim,

I need some clarification before I pull the trigger and pay you for the Roland 80XL that I said I would take. This posting

http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=219047

shows that you bought a Roland 80XL from Mickey Adams on January 17, 2012 that Mickey said he took in on trade and was 6 months old. Is this the same Roland 80XL that you are now selling through this classified ad?

I don't mean to be contrary, but I do want to know exactly what I am buying.

Thanks,
Gerry

I just wanted to let everyone know that Jim answered my question about this amp to my satisfaction, and that I have made payment. By private e-mail, Jim told me that he bought this amp new, and he told me the name of the vender he bought the amp from. Thanks, Jim, for your prompt response.

Ive been using one as my portable for over a year...Ive outgrown some of the tones for steel, but overall, its been a really good unit.
I prefer the blackface voicing with low input gain, and high output for the bass response. Like ALL amps, they sound much differently out front, and dispersed through the PA...overall, and for the money, great little amps...JMHO
And this is not the same amp that I offered here on the web. That one had a bad pot in it, and has been repaired...
