I know I saw a thread recently about replacing nylon (plastic?) tuner buttons, but can't seem to find it now.
I just pulled the trigger on a 1947? Rickenbacker that needs tuner buttons at least, and maybe tuners.
I found it at the Guitar Center online in their Lap Steel Vintage area.
The guy I talked to said he played it, and it played great, and the tuners work, but obviously need the buttons.
What is the recommendation, buttons only, tuners?
And What is the recommended source for whichever is the proper choice?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks Mike.
That is the thread I was looking for.
Would there be any advantage, one tuning vs another, if one were doing backup vs soloing?
I might have said, would there be any advantage in using one tuning for solos, and another for backup playing.
I was thinking in terms of melody vs. chords/runs/licks, with respect to accessibility of 9ths, 13ths, or whatever magical stuff you guys create the great 'sounds' with.
thanks again. |

Search for Denny Turner, he's got a whole bunch of archived info on making replacement buttons for the bare shafts. |

Stewart-MacDonald has the buttons, and sends along the instructions for mounting them. Two kinds I believe, and the plastic ones are easy to work with. |
