We recently finished a new CD in the Chet Atkins style based on Chet's album "A Session With Chet Atkins" done in 1955. Bud Isaacs played steel on that one. I'm not saying I sound anything like him, it's just for your information.
In the same way they did it back then, Guy plays most of the tune and the piano, fiddle and steel come in for their little solos. I played some background lines as well. The CD should be available in a few months. It's called "A Session with Guy Van Duser."

I'm really proud to have been a part of it.

You can hear one track here...

Very nice, Mike. Nice fat chords. After your solo, your comping sounds a bit like Chet, especially with your use of vibrato.

I think that is the first time I've heard Guy play electric. I've always liked his playing.

Got a couple of GVD's recordings with Billy Novick-- he's an amazing guitarist. Enjoyed your steel playing, Mike! Were you using the Leavitt tuning?

No Leavitt Tuning. The guys on the Forum were nice enough to clue me in on Bud's tunings so I used A6 and E9 the same as he used. I had to learn a bunch but it worked out pretty well. I was playing a double 8 Remington Steelmaster Signature Series.

Nice, Mike! In the pocket and great tone. Guy is of course a monster fingerpicker. He and Billy Novick at Club Passim were the first live music I heard in Boston when I moved here 25 years ago.
