I had a problem of too many, and got rid of a bunch. I'm down to seven. Can only play one at a time anyway

Those are nice looking instruments, especially for the price. Only thing I wouldn't like is the tone control on the player's side....too easy to get in the way & get bumped up/down in tone etc.
Maybe the designer wasn't a player (?) Many vintage steels were made that way.
Anyway, it's a non-expensive way for a beginner to get started, without a big investment.
And if it gets dropped, the neck wont snap off like a bakelite !
(Don't ask how I know this) |

| Sort of funny your posting that your guitars are multiplying and the responses showing many members with almost more guitars than they have fingers, and another member has posted he is thinking of getting rid of all of his to get "just one" Clinesmith. I'm of the opinion the more the merrier having just added my second Melbert, now if I can just convince the wife that I really could use a nice Dobro. |

I've owned quite a few guitars and even more steels, but never more than a few at the same time. Most of the guitars I've owned were just killer, like a Fry Pan and Ricky B-6s, B-7s, Gibson EH-150, Clinesmith console, Nationals, etc., but I've had a few nice cheap ones, like Magnatone G-65s and G-70s that were nice, too.
I always like to have one multi-neck, one single 8, and a good lap steel with 6 strings and all my bases are covered. But I am needing a 10-string....

David, I think your local veterinarian can nip this problem in the bud with a simple lil' operation, reasonably priced. You just have to figure out which is the, um, offending individual - the rooster so to speak.  |

That's a Guyatone. I have one just like it. I think it's one of the best looking steels I've seen with the odd green color and metal fretboard, but it just sounds OK. I have another Guyatone that is very similar, but is white with a thicker body. It sounds great.
The rocker switches on the green one just turn the switches off or on. I have mine modded so I can have them both on in series or parallel. |

This thread reminds me of my brother who plays those 6 string "geetars", but collects/accumulates other fretted instruments. Steels get his attention and when I started playing non-pedal he got out his accumulation. Oh, my! I knew he had a GAS problem, but . . .

Here is my arsenal of musical weapons, first the long barrels and then the pistols.
Everyone is a trusted friend which responds duly when its action and support is called upon.
The 4th lap gun is handmade, as will be the front African Rosewood stock.
First 3 pistols also handmade.
