I thought I would share a link that appeared on my Facebook this weekend. Ricky Davis is restoring Lloyd Green's original D10 Shobud. Here is the caption he posted with the picture:
A sneak preview of one I'm halfway done with. This is the most famous recorded s...teel guitar in history; by the most famous steel guitarist for the amount of #1 hits he has recorded on in history.
I was so excited to see this I took a picture of one of my records with the guitar pictured in it:

Wow! That is so cool! The lightning bolt is kept intact and proudly displayed. I wonder if it is being restored for the owner in Texas or if by chance it has been sold?
It was this guitar I had in mind when I made the one below:

according to Jon Grabboff, Ricky is restoring it for the owner. Their goal is to get Lloyd to record with it one more time...

Ricky Davis is the man for this job, w/o a doubt.
I would place this guitar as one of the four most historic steels in PSG history, the other three being Bud Isaacs' Bigsby, Pete Drake's "Goldie," and Buddy's "Blade."
Thank God we have guys like Ricky to do these significant restorations.

I certainly will Rick; thanks for the support.
WOW Herb; that is probably one of the nicest compliments I have EVER gotten from someone I respect so much. That is so supportive of you and is very inspiring....thank you(And I did say "The most historic" and that is just my opinion..ha...as I'm such a Lloyd Green nut...>but I agree with you Herb..certainly one of the 4 and YES those 4).
I will have a whole run down and start to finish of this project; but for now, this is what it looked and sounded like in it's day.

According to Sho-bud's model information, The first Lloyd Green model guitars were ProII's with the pad installed. One might assume that Lloyd's guitar that he had the C6th neck removed was a proII? Any thought's?

The prototype LDG was indeed taking off the C6 side and putting a pad on it; and this was the Baldwin distributed Professional(eventhough it didn't say "The professional")he had very early '70s. Then the first LDG Model was made '73 for Lloyd(a little diff. than the pro-model that was out) and so the new line of Sho~bud's called LDG were produced in '73 and of course they took on the body and mechanics of the Pro model out at that time and that was "Pro-II".

| If I am not mistaken that little bit different that Ricky is referring to above is that Lloyd's LDG has a longer scale than the standard Sho-Buds 24". I believe it was 24 1/2". |
