He's not kidding about it being for steel guitar only! I tried one of those thumb picks on a banjo once and almost ended up in the emergency room.

Looks more like a Franklin fretboard to me. Promat has a copy of an Emmons fretboard with the colored atom symbols.

They were used by a steel guitar player who's initials are CS, and may have been used to back up someone who sounded like Faron Young or Ray Price.
