I play a BlackJack Custom and it is a great guitar. It's got all the same features as the Blackjack. The sound and tone is incredible, pedals are smooth, and playability is outstanding. Jackson Steels are wonderfully built by Harry and David Jackson and are easy to play and wonderful to see. The Blackjack is a steel that you can play anywhere, whether it's in your house or onstage with a band or if you play at a steel guitar show. I highly reccommend Jackson Steel Guitars.

I like my BlackJack guitar a lot. It’s not real heavy. Stays in place while playing. The pedals and knee levers function flawlessly. Real nice S-10 guitar. |

Jackson are no longer making the BlackJack, only the BlackJack Custom. Dawn Jackson has informed me that they are working on a new steel in the $2,000 range that should be ready for the TSGA show in March.
All the best,

The BlackJack Custom is a great guitar. I logged on to the Jackson Steel site a few months ago and didn't see the Blackjack listed. The last BlackJack I saw was at the Jackson Steel Guitar Co. when I went to get my Blackjack Custom. Harry and David Jackson had it set up and I tried it out, but I loved the Blackjack Custom cause it looks awesome!

Dear Brendan,
I believe I bought that steel you were after, along with a bid from Western Australia.
Just fill you in, I noticed your name bandied around the forum recently as this is
my first introduct to the forum.
For background, I purchased my first steel at the age of 11, that (46 years ago).
I purchesed my first pedal at the age of 17 (ZB) twin 10 (8 X 2)(nice guitar- nice
wood, Rosewood, maple with black ebony inserts). Still miss it a bit. This was the
1st ZB ever in Australia. Brought in by George Xanthos (Hawking Bros Fame- 1st
Country band outside of USA to be awarded by the Grand Ole Opry). I think George got
this guitar about 1969. I got it in about 1971.
In 1976 I purchased my 1st Emmons
Black Rock (Circa 1972-1974 model) 6 x 2 single 10 and I still have this guitar
todate, a very honest, reliable instrument.
3 weeks ago I just purchase a Jackson Blackjack single 10
3 x 4
This machine is brand new, been in the case for 18 months,
1 owner, purchase direct for USA, and the previous owner was a guitarist who had 1
lesson with Michelle Rose - Sydney. After that, it went under the bed.
I cannot emphasize enough, after playing pedal for 40 years
what a magnificicent instrument the blackjack is. Extremely smooth, brilliant
engineering refinment, lustre & finish, tone is brilliant and I love the response
and sustain achieved with the new Edge technolgy. Even case it is packed in, boasts
quality.
So I am currenty the proud owner of 2 of the finest instruments produced.
I would be interested to know what you are currently using.
I recall the band (The Dead Livers) from the 70's.
I was also in a 5 piece band in that period called "Country Ltd".
Were you in the band at that time, as I dont recall seeing a pedal player in the
group at that time.
Would be interested in catching up with you at some time if possible.
You can see my gig guide at my website

Look forward to hearing from you...!
NB: I will post a pic of myself with by Emmons Black Rock and Jackson Blackjack soon.

I bought a new Blackjack in '07! I just love this guitar - it's so easy to play, has a wonderful full tone, good string separation, and the pedal action is as smooth as butter....it looks great, too! I'm playing it through an old Sho-Bud "Christmas Tree" amp (I also have a nashville 112. The Blackjack sounds great through the both of them, but it's hard to beat the depth of that 15" JBL speaker in the old Sho-Bud.
I can't say enough about the folks at Jackson - they make customer relations and customer satisfaction a first and foremost priority....always willing to talk and to help out with any issues or questions I may have. _________________ LAST WEAK I CUDN'T EVEN SPELL "STEAL GIT-TAR PICKUR" & NOW I ARE WUN! |
