You can buy an MP3 of the song here
Often confused with other songs by title. "South" is a neat little ol' tune. |

Spade Cooley and Peewee King also had a great records of "South". There are also words to it, It probably was written back in the 20's or before. |

Here's my buddy (pun intended) Buddy Merrill doing it with LW.

I really need to figure out how to get the ball rolling to nominate Buddy to the SGHOF. He was absolutely the first steeler I ever saw, and I'm sure that's probably true for many. |

Thanks guys. That video of Buddy Merrill is great. Especially the part where LW reminds him to look up and smile at the camera (so all steel guitarists after you won't think they're supposed to stare fixedly at their hands all night. I guess the tactic didn't work out too well, huh?) _________________ www.JimCohen.com

Oh, that LW! I was thinking "Link Wray?"
Buddy left no neck unplayed! Cool! |

I have a version by Andy Parker and the Plainsmen with Juaquin Murphy on steel. It's available through World Records (on-line). |
