Hi Steel Cats...I came across an old lap steel and it's a brand I have never heard of; can anyone fill me in? It's made by 'Liger' and it's a model '1'. The ONLY other word on this very ornate 6-string, is that the tuners are made by 'Delta'. I have also consulted the Lorene Ruymar Hawaiian Steel book and there's no mention of it there either....
Thanks for your help,
Terry (new member)Carleton

Hi Terry,

Welcome to the forum! This online community is a wonderful resource for all things steel. I'd suggest posting pictures of the instrument to help with identification...

All the best,

Julian

Hi everybody,
Here's a link to fotos that roger posted. Mine is EXACTLY like his. I'm wondering if anyone has an idea of what this might be worth on the open market; I'm helping a friend sell it...
Thanks a lot,
terry carleton

It's rare enough that I doubt anyone could give you a valid price for it. Remember that "rare" is not the same as "valuable". These early Japanese steel guitars are not considered collectible.
Your best bet would be to post actual photos of the instrument in question on an eBay auction and let the market decide its value.

On ebay it as often timing and viewing as anything else that decides on value, for that moment. A same item in whatever condition can go for any amount, and then wholly flip flop either way at another time that same week. Ebay is still great, but can drive you completely sane!

That's true, Ron, but I'd still argue that a well photographed instrument with as much information about it as possible will give you the highest return. Especially if you make it a true auction and not an unreasonable "Buy It Now" scam.

"I have a weirdo.....can anyone help me?"

You have no idea how many times I've heard my wife say that.

Styling cues that remind me of a Pachinko machine-- neat.

And I'm no expert, but I don't think you'd get much north of 2 bills on ePay, if that, if you're interested in guesses...

Thanks everybody for the help on helping me identify this strange little lap steel that I have....
I agree, a picture would be most important for selling on ebay. And I also agree that it looks like a pachinko machine!!
