Here is a clip from the 1996 International Steel Guitar Convention.

On this video are the late Jimmie Crawford, the late Bobby Caldwell & the late Don Curtis.

Great music, just too many "lates" up there. Man I miss seeing and hearing those guys.

Like horn sections and string sections - I think there should be pedal steel sections. On this clip and on their recordings - Crawford and Hicks show how good this can sound. Imagine this sound on a commercial record in any style of music with even more than two steels playing written arrangements in harmony.

Ah yeah, Crawford and Hicks, always one of my most favorite sets at the ISGC. Top of my list. Great stuff.

Great clip Bill many thanks. Nice to see Gerry Hogan on guitar to Jimmy's right. Gerry always plays a D-10 JCH steel. Those that aren't aware, they were made by Jimmie Crawford and John Hughey.

Micky Byrne U.K.

Well spotted, Micky - maybe Bill could insert a credit for Gerry H.

I do enjoy the sound of the individual vibratos creating that chorus effect. I remember both these guys knocking me out a few years later, that time with the amazing Buck Reid on the third steel.

Great clip. Jimmie was a master at moving note voices within chords.

Thank you Bill for posting this. I'll admit that I get a little misty eyed watching it. Jimmie was such an innovator... sure do miss him.

Gerry's scoutmaster shorts aside Laughing , the thing I always get from watching Jimmy is that he is having a bundle of fun playing. My friend Ron Mawn got to hang out with Jimmy and his wife, and Jimmy would always ask Ron if he knew any runs against minor chords, because he loved minor runs and scales.

As Buck has said he was a real innovator, both as a player and as a designer. Those banjo runs of his were killer.
