Hi there every one. I'm new here to the Forum
and I think it's just the coolest thing.
I would like to build an 8 or 10 string lap
steel.Does anyone out there know where I might find the hardware to accomplish this
task? Any info would be great.
thanks,Dan

Hi Dan, zip on over to the Musical Instrument Makers Forum - www.mimf.com

There is a plan for sale there (cheap) of an 8 string steel built by one of the members. There is also a ton of various info on making lap steels.

Also check out Pat Websters site http://www.bucks.edu/~0228685/guitar/new.html

She has made several really cool lap steels (also a bonus you'll get to see two of my guitars on her site )

Good luck.

Dan-- I've been very pleased with Ed Naylor's Steal Guitar Works. He's a nice guy, seems to know a lot, and is happy to help. Don't know enough about 'going prices' but I sure had no complaints on any of the stuff I've bought from him. Good luck on your project. With Ed's help, I did a pretty respectable job on a 10/12 stringer, myself.

I can supply you with any kind of part you need to build a Steel.  The question one must decide is how much mechanical capabilities they have and the tools to do the job.  With a 5 minute phone call I can answer all your questions and can supply a "kit" that fits your pocketbool.
