I just received a phone call to let me know an album I recorded with my good friends The Stardust Cowboys, "Riding Back To You", just won Best Western Album of the Year!
I'm so jazzed, 'cause we all did this ablum "live" in the studio, all 7 of us crammed into one room with a bunch of mics! _________________ Dave Wren

Thanks so much guys!
It is really very nice to share in this honor, but Gary and Vicki Campbell, the songwriters of the group deserve the lion's share of the laurels... they've been at this for quite a while, as both of you Chris and Paul know first hand.
Here's a link to my version of the Hoagy Charmichael classic "Stardust" that is included in the CD:
http://www.etsga.org/davewrens_stardust.mpeg.mp3
Those great twin fiddles are Ronnie Elkan and Olen Dillingham!
... and I believe more clips of the album can be found at the Stardust Cowboys myspace page.
Billy and Jim, I missed seeing you both this year at Phoenix.... but I'm setting my sights on making again next year!!! _________________ Dave Wren

Johnny, thank you, I'm a real fan of your playing..... so thanks twice for that!!!
Jack, Thanks so much!!!!
I must admit, I do love my "little private forest"!
All in all... I'm just amazed at this CD getting this award!!! Maybe there is something to getting all your "hot shot" local pickers to all contribute to a collection of songs written by lontime time friends!!!

David
Congratulations on the Stardust Cowboys' win for "Best Western Album!"
I guess I can announce to the Forum that the band I've been involved with for 4 years, Tony Harrison and Hot Texas, were the recipients of the AWA's "Best Western Swing Album" for our latest effort Swinging Big.
It's great to have your work recognized by the industry, no lie. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

A great album - the award was well deserved. It's currently Mrs. Lee's favorite CD. She plays it a lot.
It includes a tribute to my old friend Sal Sage, who passed away a few years ago. I was surprised to hear a brief clip of a song I recorded with Sal long ago. It brought an unexpected tear to my eye.
Congratulations on the award, David. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

Actually Bob, the album with the tribute to Sal Sage is the newest Stardust Cowboys album; "How the Cowboys Swung the West". I played the steel tracks on this recording.
The album that received the award was recorded a year or two earlier and is entitled "Ridin' Back to You". David Wren played the steel, and dobro on the earlier album. |

Oops.
Well, I imagine that the earlier album is probably every bit as good as the one I have. These folks are great songwriters in the Western tradition. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |
