What sort of "specs" are you looking for?
Basically, it's a low-end copy of a Gibson, and about the cheapest guitar they ever made. Value today is somewhere around $75-$100.  |

That first digit could be an L or I maybe. Specs I was looking for as to the pickups, I believe they are humbucking but not for sure. As far as low end, I've played very expensive guitars that had necks that were anything but friendly. This thing has a killer neck, about as good as any I've played. I picked it up in a pawn shop for $40.00, needs string and a good cleaning. The p-ups are doubles. No matter if low end or not after a while it becomes vintage. I guess what caught my eye was the color; same as my Sho-Bud. Thanks guys. Anything you can tell me about it is appreciated.  |

the GAX70 line uses Ibanez Powersound humbuckers in what appears to be a fairly standard vol/tone 3way switch configuration.

the GAX70 uses PSND1 & PSND2
A lot of their Value Line guitars have great necks, where they fall short is in the electronics IMHO. Upgrading the pickups might be worthwhile if you are planning to keep it for a while. (keep the old ones in case you need to bring it back to original).
Keep in mind that this was "Value Line" guitar, so they tend to install whatever electronics they have on hand. If they ran short on Powersound Pickups at the factory, they may have subbed in whatever they had on hand, this doen't happen too often, but it does happen!

Hey guys that axe was made in 1971 and was guitar # 980 of that year. So I would say "vintage" status applies here. Now to bring her back to life. I am happy.   |

Then it is definitely not a GAX-70.
The GAX series was first produced in 1998. |
