I'd like a bit for travel when lowering the E strings, but I don't immediately see a way to make the adjustment. There's only one hole on the bellcrank and, for pushes, only one hole at the changer. |

Follow the 1/8" rod from the knee lever bracket itself to the aluminum angle bracket screwed into the body. By moving the rod collars, you can adjust the travel and free play there. |

You can give and take away slack, but you can't speed up or slow down the pulls. If the lever is stiffer than you like, you can adjust tension on the return springs, or go to stiffer (heavier) gauges.
Warning: the second option, while easing tension on your lowers, will make your raises stiffer. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Well, I'm happy with the tension, just wish it was a little longer clutch, if you know what I mean. The E lever on my Lone Star feel like it's about 2.5 times as much travel as the Emmons and is more expressive.
It's nothing to complain about, really. I'll get used to it. |

Yup. If you want a longer throw, you will have to play with the gauges and make the string tighter. As you increase the tension, a changer finger must travel farther to move the same amount of pitch. So you would be gaining expression but make the lever, as well as the F lever and C pedal, stiffer. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

You can't change the leverage of a lower in a push/pull easily, but you can lengthen the "effective" knee lever excursion by placing a longer spring between the bellcrank and collar.
The longer throw is due to the wasted motion used to compress the increased spring length. Just make sure you DON'T use a stiffer spring. |

don't get me wrong guys
but thats why the all pull was invented
its so much easier to set up your steel
being a complete novice this suited me fine
ok PP are rated the best in steel setups
but all pulls beate it hands down for setting up your steel
even nicdutoit in cape town SA says this and he has one of the early emmons PP steels.
I'm not running down PP's in anyway
blessings
