Wow!!! I just did a cap job on my oldest Session 400 (1975) using Brad Sarno's Session 400 web page and the results are Amazing! I have not even turned this amp on for 15 yrs mainly due to the fact that while playing thru it the amp would break up and go into this wierd honky severely mid range tone and I would have to reach around and slam my fist on top of the amp to get it to straighten out once again. I even sent the chassis to Peavey at on point and they weren't even able to fix it. So I did the cap job and put back in the old Peavey JBL speaker I was using with my Rev rig so I could sell the amp. Not anymore! I'm keeping it, this amp sounds increadible and is so quiet you can't even tell it's on. I never imagined an old 400 could sound this good. I don't have alot of electronic skills ( I started recently building effects pedals ) but this was very simple to do if you have some soldering skills and can look at pictures. Nothing like these old Session 400's. What I especially like is they are easy to EQ. Turning the knobs, the change is very gradual.

Michael,
That is just about the same thing I've got going,hit the top of the amp kinda makes it better.I've got an old Session 500 and have not turned it on in a long time, just a boat anchor in the basement. I would like to get it fixed as I've got a need for it in a remote practice area where I could leave it.
Any thought on that?

Ken Fox also sells the mod kits......I need to do my Session 500 head as I know it would benefit from it but so far no problems. My days are numbered I'm sure, but I don't use it all that much.
