Oh, no!!!! That's shocking news!
I thought the world of Larry who I met through Terri Williams when I was working with Jeannie Seely. I spent a lot of time with him, we played music together and we played golf together!
What a lovely man he was, and a fine musician; as Boo says, he always played with such good taste and played just what was needed. A rarity indeed... _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles and Martins - and, at last, a Gibson Super 400!

This is why Nashville is called "Guitar Town" - with players like Larry Nutter. I first heard him when he was on the Jack Green Band w/ Wayne Kincaid - great music and a great guitar player. |

That's just terrible news. Larry and I were long time pals. He was one of the last of the great country players and wasn't ashamed to admit it or play it and play it he did!! Rest in peace old friend!!

From Penny from Facebook,
Today is a very sad day for all of us at the Penny Gilley Show...we lost our extremely talented guitar player, Larry Nutter, early this morning; Larry had been struggling with cancer for a while. Larry has been a part of the show since 2009...he lived in Nashville for many years where he was a top session player; he worked with many of the Grand Old Opry greats and was with Kitty Wells and Jeannie Seeley for many years. Our prayers and thoughts out to his wife Terri, daughter Mackenzie, and the rest of his family. We were very fortunate to work with him these past few years...he will be GREATLY missed.

Here is some Memorial details that larry's wife Terri posted on face book ..
For those of you who have not heard, Larry left us here on earth in the early morning hours of January 20, 2012. God must have been needing a guitar picker upstairs. We will remember Larry in a service at Donelson Church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday, January 24 at 6pm. We will also have a service in Branson, Missouri at God & Country Theater on Monday, January 30 at 6pm. For those attending, the family would very much appreciate, in lieu of flowers, that you bring a photo for our family album and a memory of Larry. Please list a detail on the back of the photo. A microphone will be provided to share a brief memory of Larry. The best tribute to Larry will be the celebration of his life and music. _________________ AL (BOO) Miller

Came here after Herb called me about Billy Johnson and discovered that Im late to hear the sad news about Larry as well.
Larry was a fine fellow, great friend and musical compadre. Besides having the priveledge of sharing a stage with Larry many times over the years, some of my fondest memories are of Larry and Chuck Bartlett playing at Gabe's Lounge here in Nashville. The twin parts those two could play....and right off the top of their heads.
I'll miss him greatly. My prayers for his family and friends. Billy and Larry gone...a sad day in the 'ol Guitar for me |
