This version of Franz Schubert's "Ave Maria" on C6 steel guitar was recorded in 2004, the accompaniment performed by my son, David Das (www.daviddas.com). As I was living in the tropics at the time, this version has a "tropical" flavour.

Although he died at an early age, Schubert was tremendously prolific. Appreciation of Schubert's music during his lifetime was limited, but interest in his work increased dramatically in the decades following his death at the age of 31 (31 January 1797 – 19 November 1828).

Your treatment of the melody is beautiful... and I love that you think "outside the box" when you're selecting material. (Your REM cover, for example.)

This should probably go in the Tablature section but it seems so appropriate here....does anyone happen to have the Tablature for this song (C6)?

Hi Kay,
Very nice version, as always. Love the smooth vibrato. Ave Maria plays out on the E9th, too.

Hi Leila, Unfortunately, I do not do tabs...but maybe can help with iChat/Facetime, if you are a mac user, or Skpe... please e-mail me or send a personal message if you wish. I used the C6 tuning on this.

Kay

Hi Chuck,

Grateful for the appreciation. Yes, thinking about it, would sound good on E9 pedal steel...

Thanks for the offer Kay, although I do use Apple machines, I don't use iChat or Facetime, or Skpe. And now you've got me more curious about Schubert. I think I'll go check him out. Smile
