You'll be doing flips when you see member Mike Dotson's WoodPans, and the Harbor Lights is another sweet version by member Harry Shepard. Can't go wrong with either, from what we've seen here previously.

| I assume so. Last year he just said he'd stopped building, and sold a bunch of his supplies here on the forum. Never mentioned health issues. He still builds for himself, though. He posted a cool mini "U" bass he made fairly recently. |

Heh heh, you got the bug all right Leila. No, the only clips I know are the Youtube ones - there are 3 more I know of, Mike Neer playing Jerry Byrd's "Slippery Elm", and two by Mike Dotson himself, all easy to find. They also offer a variety of sounds, since between them you'll hear 3 different WoodPans.
Go ahead and drop Mike a line, he's got lots on the go right now so didn't get offended when I admitted I couldn't spring for one immediately. |

It's really a shame that Harry is no longer making the Harbor Lights guitar, although I completely understand why, given the amount of labor it took to produce it. I bought this one from him as a "kit". He supplied the wood pieces, already cut and shaped, and I did the final assembly, binding, fretwork, finishing, and hardware. It's not really a "frypan" in the truest sense, but It's really the nicest steel guitar I own. The top and back are Koa, with a curly maple fretboard.

I really like the looks of that frypan just above this post, but I also like the darker wood....does anyone have more pictures of these wooden frypans, I need all the help I can get.

What kind of wood is that light one 3 photos up?
I found this discription elsewhere:
"Its made from European Ash, Abalone markers, rosewood frets and has an Irongear Jailhouse Rail pickup that is coil split. The pickup ring is made from walnut and the nut and bridge are aluminium. 22.5 scale, it plays nicely and I love its overall small size."
I love its overall small size too!
