After re-booting my airport modem a few weeks ago I notice that any time I try to download old, out-of-print music from blog sites only a tiny file downloads(4-24k instead of the multi-meg file that's actually there) Is this ...

ISP blocking file sharing downloads?
DNS server issue?
Modem issue?

Is it repairable? Thanks.

Is it reparable? Thanks.

I vote for option C.

Turn off the PC. Reboot the modem again. Then login and see if the problem has been resolved.

I'm on a Mac. I shut off the cable modem & airport router, unplugged cables, waited 1 min then re-powered, re-plugged & rebooted. Also re-set the browser, clearing cache, history, etc. Same issue persists.

Do a test download of a similarly sized file from Amazon.com. Go there and purchase a 99 cent track off some CD and download it. Save it to the Amazon Cloud as a backup. Or, do the same via iTunes.

If a media file you purchase from one of these sources does download completely, your suspicions about your ISP interfering may be on-track. Contact them and ask them if they are limiting your download privileges.

I don't think this is what is really going on. Something has changed in your modem/router configuration that is fragmenting the TCP/IP packets, causing mass re-sends and Blers. Try resetting the router to its default settings, then reset the SSID, security code and password to protect it. Turn off remote Administration and UPnP.

If you weren't using any security, or weak security on your router, it is possible that a neighbor has hacked into it and is using it for their own purposes. If they are using your hijacked router, anything goes. They might be downloading and uploading huge torrent files, in effect, limiting your normal use of your Internet connection. There is only so much pipe in any given connection.

It was Norton's vulnerability protection application blocking the pipeline.
