I'm trying to recall who the staff players were on Hee Haw and the timeframes in which they served.
I know Curly Chalker was a big one. When did he join and how long was he in the band? _________________ 1965 Emmons S-10, 3x5 • Emmons LLIII D-10, 10x12 • JCH D-10, 10x12 • Beard MA-8 • Oahu Tonemaster |

Russ Hick could answer too = I think Russ said one time that his steel playing took 17 years to get that show canceled.
Jay Dee too.
But I do not know the years for any of them.

I can't recall his last name. Oh yeah, Terry Christofferson played both guitar and steel with Buck.
Troy Klontz played with Roy Clark's band.
Terry, Russ Hicks, and Chalker are the ones I remember but I don't know the chronology either. |

I'm guessing it's Curly on this early 70s version of Rocky Top sung by Lynn Anderson: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1K0dw3F3lM
or maybe it's Jay Dee? the steel comes in on every chorus. _________________ 1965 Emmons S-10, 3x5 • Emmons LLIII D-10, 10x12 • JCH D-10, 10x12 • Beard MA-8 • Oahu Tonemaster |

I think Chalker was the first Hee Haw staff steel player until 1975, 76 or somewhere in that area. I think Russ became the staff steel player from there until the end around 1993.

I would guess it would be to get the right guys who played it get a hold of Russ Hicks.
Problem would be solved.

huh?
i don't know. it has that Lloyd Green staccato thing happening and Curly was great at emulating that. and Lloyd is the one who really showed Curly a thing or two on the E9.
I'm sticking with Curly for now. or Jay Dee _________________ 1965 Emmons S-10, 3x5 • Emmons LLIII D-10, 10x12 • JCH D-10, 10x12 • Beard MA-8 • Oahu Tonemaster |

Ok Steve I could agree with that except that is the Buckaroos behind her and at one time they recorded all the music in the studio and just air-strummed on TV. It does sound like Chalker, but maybe Jerry. |

I heard a couple of things that I've heard only Curly do before, and I'm not terribly familiar with Jerry's playing,so I guess it could be either one...maybe Jerry will see this and enlighten us... |

The tone sounds more like Curly to me...the stuff I've heard from Jerry sounds brighter to me,like an Emmons guitar. |

Steve I think you are right because in that time frame Buck was not carrying a steel player. I am pretty sure this was before Jerry and after JayDee. |
