I fool a lot of people with my Bo-Bro. And, I use a regular bar. The nylon bar sounds decent but has NO sustain. That is not an accurate reproduction of a dobro, as every dobro I have owned, seen or heard has some sustain.

We had a fellow bring his app. 1946 Gibson lap and ask me to play it and see what I thought as he does not play.
It was the exact model I first bought for $110.00 bucks way back then to see if I could learn. In super condition I might add.
I used my Bo-Bro on it and my drummer was emphatic as to how good it sounded. (Also using a regular bar)
Maybe not quite like the real thing but an excellent substitute with an app. 6 inch footprint and one pound weight. We all know every bit of space and weight you can save and get a good result is welcome anytime.
Nice to have around when you need the sound.
I don't use mine a lot but will keep it as long as I still play.
