Several years ago I saw Zane King in St. Loius at the ISGC. He played and sang on his set. If I remember right he is a minister as well. Now, twenty years later you can see many videos on YouTube with Zane playing and singing and playing keyboard. Zane is one talented man for sure. Just wanted to give him some credit for the talent he has been blessed with. Oh yeah, I am not related to him but I wish that I was. |

Gotta agree with you there, Paul. Zane is not just an amazing steel player, he excels in several instruments, songwriting, singing, producer, organizer, inventor, etc. How he finds time to make videos, I'll never know. In addition, he is just an all around genuine nice guy to boot.
I hope to get to meet hims someday.
Great post, Paul. |

That version of Amazing Grace that Zane has on Youtube just blows me away.
I wanted that 12 string he had for sale so bad, but I just wasn't sure if I had enough years left in this lifetime to make the transition over to his tuning. You are right Paul, he is so talented. |

I believe some people are very good at learning a talent and some people are just absolutely born with it. Zane is one of those that came to earth destined to play steel guitar. Between his instrumental talent (he can play other instruments as well...although steel is his strong suit), his songwriting, his production, and his heart for helping others, he's pretty much amazing overall. I not only hear him play steel...I FEEL him play steel... I feel honored when I sit 5 feet from him and listen to him play. The first time he played Starry, Starry Night (which I suggested he record because I could imagine how beautifully he'd play it), I literally wept. He played it even more amazingly than I imagined. I pray that Zane receives the recognition his talent warrants, and the opportunity to share the GIFT GOD placed in him, with so many more people. I KNOW what it means to those of us who hear him play....It is something to be shared and celebrated for sure. I'd like to add that I will have the honor of becoming his wife very soon. I am so blessed. THANK YOU, Paul King, for starting this thread...I'd have liked to, but I think I might have seemed a bit prejudice...HAHA! |

Paul, you got the right guy. I spent several years in my early 20s in ministry. Upon moving to Nashville when I was 25 I really focused upon my role in Christian music. I believe I have you used my gifts wisely and looking forward more and more to what I can do with my musical bicycle! _________________ Zane King

Jerry H. - that is very kind of you to say.
Brad - Happy New Year to my friend. If I can get these New Year's resolutions underway I should have a new steel guitar instrumental CD by early March. I love to participate in the Forum. I hope to contribute much this year! _________________ Zane King

Zane, from another Jerry H...... If you've got 9 fans then let me put you in double digits as I'm a fan for sure.... I tried your setup on my extra BMI for a about a month but I've just been playing the "old way" too long, I wish I'd started it years ago as it's got a bunch of good things on there.......Thanks....JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |
