| Mike: This is a screwy thought I had. I wonder what it might sound like if a good vocal group would hum the notes from a Pedal Steel Guitar tablature for a particular Song ? Could they duplicate the changes including the slides ? |

Great idea about arranging steel parts for a vocal group. That would make a great vocal group Christmas record or even a pedal steel Christmas record adding a vocal group singing pedal steel parts. I've always wanted to arrange a jazz chart for a pedal steel "horn" section.
It's been documented that the Davis' Sisters harmony sound was a direct influence on Bud Issacs and the modern pedal steel sound. You can hear this sound on "I Forgot More Than You'll Ever Know" w/ Skeeter and Betty Jack:

Mike - yes almost any effect is possible with good singers...a few years ago I saw a vocal group at the Montreal Jazz fest that even incorporated a record 'skipping' sound into one of their arrangements. It was very funny.  Thanks for posting that T6 link - I love these guys. |

Always thought that as a C6er I should listen to Take 6 for chords, and the single notes should sound like Toots Thielemans.
