This has probably been discussed before but I didn't turn much up in a search. I'm going to be using a SF Bassman 100 so I need some reverb from a pedal. I'm just looking for a tiny little thing, doesn't need to be the best reverb in the world but I want it to be the best it can be for something that size.
Been looking at a Wampler Faux Spring Reverb unit because they make some great pedals, also just the little Boss RV2 which has a good rep and I also love the Trex stuff and they have the Room Mate reverb which looks very good. I'm not interested in lots of options just something simple that is small and will get as close as I can to a real Fender reverb.
Any opinions much appreciated |

I like the EH Holy Grail. I always keep one in my seat - its saved my butt many times when I use back line gear. For $99 it's hard to beat and sounds close to a fender spring. _________________ Milkmansound.com |

I'm having noise issues with my Holy Grail these days and thinking of replacing it. I have been happy with it for years though. The Boss RV2 sounds grainy, a little one dimensional and harsh to my ear.
I used a TC Electronic Hall of Fame reverb pedal at a session last month and was very impressed. There seems to be a bunch of great new stuff out there. _________________ Bob |

It all depends on what you want.. If you JUST want a really nice natural sounding basic reverb, the Holy Grail is all you will ever need.. It is indistinguishable from a Fender onboard spring reverb, believe me, I have AB'd them.. If you want more than that there are lots of more expensive options that will do more... bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

Love my Strymon 'Blue Sky' ...
It has a control for some delay as well as some roll off EQ,
chorus, shimmer, and several types of reverbs like
plate, spring and hall;of course mix and tail length.
I find it smooth with little graininess and shutter. Very small w/ that much control built in. |

+1 for Holy Grail....and the new stomp box sized one is just fine, sounds as good as the old huge and fragile one... |

I agree with Billy on the "WET" reverb. It's the best one I've had. |

You might want to look into Earthquaker Devices Dispatch Master if you want a great delay mixed in. It has delay and a great rich reverb together. This small pedal replaced my RV3 as soon as I tried it.No harshness and simple to use.Great sound, IMHO. |

One more vote for the Grail.
Bob, what kinds of noise? I had problems with mine, rotating the jack cured it, the mode switch had made contact with the bit of metal that went out to contact the tip of the plug. Been fine ever since. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

I'm pretty sure its a power supply issue. Sounds like a little vacuum cleaner. It's an EH thing. There earlier stuff is more fussy than the new stuff. _________________ Bob |

I just received my new Wet Reverb Stereo yesterday so I'm in "playing around" mode, but so far, so good, I really like it. Tonight I'll try it at the gig |

So you'll tell us what happened after the Schmidt hit the band? _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

My Grail was noisy and hummed loudly until I ran it through my pre EQ on my N400, that solved that problem. |

Check Guitar Centers USED inventory on line...you can grab a great pedal for 50% off and if it is damaged, return it to a local GC for full refund. Full recourse. When you call the store that has it the clerk will answer all questions about it before you buy it. Condition, scratches etc... be patient though, they may be busy and not anxious to stop a $1000 guitar discussion for a $39 pedal call! The quality and popular pedals last about a day or so on the GC site.
Both of the pedals below came from GC USED, The reverb I paid $39 and the Tuner $49. Both excellent...both are now part of my weekly adventures... Both are used for my Telecaster which is input to the normal channel on the Twin Reverb, the reverb is fine... just what the Dr ordered.

Yeah I've kind of narrowed it down to a Hall Of Fame which sounds like it'll be great, or the Wet but that seems hit and miss with some people on the net anyway.
I'll be looking into the Hall Of Fame more as there are a few of them around...perhaps that's not a good sign |

I would put my vote for the the Strymon BlueSky. I was using a Digitech Hardwire RV7 before, and found that to have some digital artifacts that I could hear. The Strymon has none of that and lots of control for its size, including a favorite setting, that makes the pedal almost like 2 in one.
All the best and a Very Happy New Year!

I have tryed the older Boss (I think it was an RV3), the 63 Fender pedal, The Digitech RV7, and the Wet Reverb. Some far I think the Wet Reverb is the one I'll use. Very compact, simple, and I think he says it's not a spring reverb emulation, but it's own original sound. (To me it sounds a lot like a spring. ) |
