I am getting back to the steel guitar after many years away..I would like to know where I can get a song book (western music preferred but other will do) That shows a tablature which shows which fret to place the steel and also which strings to pick
I learend this way years ago and would like to try that again.Any help will be apprectated. I will try to post
s picture of what I want.Thanks

If you haven't already, try the Instruction Link at the top of the page. You didn't mention your preferred tuning, but there are plenty to choose from. You might also want to check the Tab and Instructional material offered by members in the Classified sections.

You can also go to John Ely's site and he has a chord locator based on your tuning.. pretty handy, especially if you have a collection of books of the music you like that shows which chords.. it can also find the harmony for it..

In addition to the material for sale here (which is top notch), many members here have free tablature on their sites. One site that comes to mind is Greg Cutshaw's; although it is primarily for pedal steel he does have some for lap steel:

Harold, my C6 lap steel tab looks a lot like the tab that you are used to, except I put the numbers on the lines, not in the spaces. For more info ---> Click here

I bought Doug's book and could not be happier... really helps a newbie and adds confidence when you can actually hear yourself playing a song that you recognize. I am also waiting for a book I bought from another forum member Roy Thompson
