Not sure about that serial number you posted, but that appears to be a pre-CBS Twin (pre-1968 or so) with replaced grill cloth. Typically, dating a Fender amp is a bit of detective work, i.e. inspecting date codes on speakers, pots, etc.
Check for a tube chart on the inside of the cabinet and look for an ink stamped production date code. That would be a pretty reliable indicator. The production codes are explained in that link at the top.
I'll give ya 200 bucks for it, no questions.. _________________ Lost Pines Studio

Thanks Bill, I just made a trade for it this morning and was looking for a starting point. Let me play it for a while but I will keep your generous offer in mind.

The chassis S/N stamp is one clue, the Transformer numbers are a bigger clue. Can you provide the transformer #'s ? Generally the purchase of an amp like this is validated by the transformer numbers, speakers may not survive 4 decades and are not really considered a big downside, transformers however, are.
The AC xxx number is not listed, an A1 xxx would be a more typical S/N for a Twin as shown above.
Can you post a photo of the chassis inside ? The grill cloth is definitely suspect though , it looks to have been removed or re-done, hard to say from the photo.

Ok more info and I will leave my post above for general info.
Your TWIN is a 65RI TWIN Reverb,
AC= A=1990 C=March
So you have a 65 Twin Reverb RI built in March of 1990 according to the S/N offered.
A look at the chassis would define this in a NY minute.
Nice amp though..
t
PS, Although the RI Twins did not hit the streets officially until sometime in 1991,the chassis was stamped in 1990. Generally dating Fender amps, the chassis numbers usually pre-date the transformers and that is why the transformer codes are considered a more accurate date identification. _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

Thanks, Bill and Tony. I got one transformer # but would have to pull the chassis to get the other.
It is B 037612
EIA 606-443
The best thing is it sounds good and I have well under $500 real Billy dollars in it.
Thanks guys |

Billy, by all accounts the amp is a 65 Twin Reverb RI which was built around 90 or 91. If and when you pull the chassis you will see that the differences between the RI and the 60's/70's era are apparent. I happen to like the RI amps, they sound great and really deliver. If you have less than 5 in the amp you are doing real well.
