Anybody ever use these on cabs or cases for glides? Solid steel 5/8" ball in a steel housing.
Not recommended for hardwood, vinyl or linoleum floors of course, but might reduce the tote factor here and there.

Perhaps it's just me, but I'd think any wheel under about 4 inches in diameter would have problems in any outdoor environment. and 5 eighths would get stymied just by a sidewalk crack.
It'd be great for stuff around a house or studio that never leaves for a gig, though. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Jerry,
I think these are used with the ball facing up. They make it easy to slide flat objects (like cardboard boxes or wood) in any direction.
Ball down, they get caught in any opening. Casters would be a better investment. _________________ 1974 Marlen S-12 1968 Tele 1969 Martin D-35H |

4"? My rack case has 2" rubber casters. I don't roll it everywhere it goes...across the grass or gravel f.i....Just on flat surfaces like stages and floors. It rolls just fine on sidewalks too.
Yeah, I know the original purpose for these ball bearing type things like on conveyors, warehouse storage racks etc. I was thinking about using them where you would normally have glides on a case or cab, not as a caster per se.
For instance, my steel guitar cases have glides on the 4 bottom corners. I thought these might be helpful loading in and out of the hatch of my 2 dr. Blazer, etc.
Guess I'll try it and find out for myself. |

Jerry - I had a guy insist he wanted those on a amp Road Case. He went on the road and came back by and asked me to put 4" casters on it. Just talked to him last week and he told me the 4 inch worked great
I have used some 2 inch too
those balls work great is they never leave a building with industrial carpet or tile / wood floors

I said 4 because I've had 3s stumble on obstacles. But I'd roll that Hernia 500 everywhere I could to not have to pick it up _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
