Good day!
My name is Rick and I'm a Bud a'holic. Own a beautiful 1974 LDG I bought off forum from Wendell Fields. I am not technologically educated enough to pull and paste pics from this forum of the guitar otherwise I surely would. My LDG was rebuilt by Nashville Guitars and is the MOST gorgeous blue I have ever seen.
(If anyone has the expertise, time and inclination to search forum for the posts when I bought it-April 2009, and upload them I'd be eternally greatful).
I would like to be a BROTHER also and if possible the member # of 1974 would be great if it's available. I am still a newbie but am working on it.
This is a nice idea. Proud to be in such wonderful company.

This one of two Pro II's I own. I purchased it in 1974 and it still plays like a dream. SN 5336, which is the member number I'll take (makes the club look big). |

Id like to get in on the fun and become a Shobud brother. I have a little Sho bud Maverick,which,in spite of all the bad press, a pretty good beginers instrument.
There;'s something of a mystique that goes with Shobuds. That 'Shobud of Nashville plate,the hearts,spades diamonds and clubs on the fretboard and all that great music that was made on Sho Bud instruments.It puts a guy into a Porter Wagoner stste of mind. Noty a bad way to be. i I think it's great that other people share these kinds of feelings. |

I would like to become a member of this Elite Brotherhood of The Sho-Bud. I have 2, The Professional 1971 and #6139, not sure of the year. I have added one of Donald Blood`s Armrest and have 3 more knee levers on order now from James Moorehead. These are being added to the 6139. I`ll take #73.

As with the others posting in this thread, I would also like to join the Sho~Bud brotherhood! I would like to request membership number #122. My first Sho~Bud was a good quality Maverick that I purchased directly from Shot Jackson at Sho~Bud in Nashville. During correspondences with Lloyd Green, he suggested that I get a professional model, such as his LDG Model. This didn't take much convincing!! I now have this model of Sho~Bud. See "old" photo of me with my previous Maverick and two of my LDG, before & after a fretboard change.

I would like to enter in to this also. Here is a photo of my Sho-Buds, one of them is a Jackson, and one more is in pieces for restoration right now. There is 1 D-10 permanent, 1 D-10 fingertip, 1 SD-12 fingertip, 1 S-10 fingertip, 1 S-10 professional, 1 D-10 professional, 1 D-10 Pro II custom, 1 SD-10 Pro III custom under restoration, 1 SD-10 Jackson Madison 63.

I'll be the first sis to join. The Beast pictured is my second Bud, born in 1977 by special order, so I'd like to be #77. Her little sister was a Maverick which served me well for 2 years prior.

Thank you ALL for joining the International Sho-Bud Brotherhood...and Sisterhood.
I ask all the Sho-Bud Brothers to join me a special welcome for our first Sho-Bud Sister, Lynn Fargo. Lynn, I'm so glad you want to be part of this. We need our Sho-Bud Sisters!
I like the picture of you and your Bud, Lynn. Is it just me, or do Sho-Bud steels have a personal, emotional significance?
Lathan, I think it's great you're working with James Moorehead. We're lucky to have great specialists like James and Ricky Davis to maintain our instruments.
Jim, your LDG looks fabulous. You've taken good care of it, I see. Would you like to say anything more about your meeting with Shot? Or your visit to Sho-Bud? Shot had a way of making an encounter memorable with his jokes and generosity.
Dave, what a great backdrop for your and your Pro I. Which mechanism is in that in your beautiful instrument?
And Bob, there's enough steels, amps and guitars in your photo that it could pass for the Sho-Bud showroom. Well I remember mopping the floor under the steels on display there. And it's great you're into the Jackson steel as well. David and Harry Jackson build such fine instruments, with incredible attention to detail, continual innovation and dedication to satisfying their clients. I love those guys. They treated me so well when I showed up in Nashville in 1979 at age 19 hungry and in need of a helping hand.
Larry, your Pro-II is a beauty! Thanks for the picture.
Thanks to each of you who shares my feeling for the International Sho-Bud Brotherhood & Sisterhood. As janitor, I have no power whatsoever. But I sure welcome you, your presence, your comments, your instruments and your choice of member numbers.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the welcome. The pic of me and my Bud is from '85 when I was payin' my dues pickin' steel, my Ovation and Jazzy, and fronting on vocals. I'd been working in country-rock groups 9 years by then, in and around NE and central PA and the Poconos. I quit the next year, however, to start college, and my Bud has mostly been in its case since then until recently. I'm finally back at it for the last few months, though only in my music room, and every now and then throwing a vid up on YouTube.
My avatar pic is from this year, posing with my idol, J.D. Call. He's such a sweetheart, and makes his fans feel special. I wouldn't have been playing pedals at all if I didn't hear "Sister's Keeper" on a jukebox one night in a bar by chance. I bought my Maverick almost immediately, and when I met J.D. the following year he said "Get a better guitar", so I did as soon as I could swing it.
I had played non-pedal from age 8 til about age 16 but quit out of frustration - Just couldn't get the same sounds I was hearing on the radio and LPs. But at least that gave me a foundation so I could later learn from books, tabs and tracks without an actual teacher.
Sho-Buds? Yeah, I think they're pretty special! |

Andrew, my Pro I has a Jeff Suratt rebuild. 3 and 4. Plays smooth and sounds great. sometimes it fails to correct operator error, but other than that it's great. The back drop was the Sawtooth Mountains in Stanley Idaho. Absolutely beautiful and a great crowd. Here's a pic I took from stage with some more beauties.

I've had, in the past, a '67 Fingertip which I got new in '67, two Professionals, and two Super Pros. I'm now playing a round-front Pro-1 that has been completely restored and updated underneath by Leon Roberts some time back. Here's a picture of the Pro-1.

Hello brothers and sisters - fraternal and sororial greetings from London, England. If it is still available, may I have membership no. 21? If that's gone, I'll go for 35.
I'm an absolute novice, but the proud owner of a Sho-Bud 'no name'. Also no descernible serial no.
It's a blonde, square-fronted guitar, very similar in appearance to the one pictured by Frank Freniere - except mine is an sD with a front pad. I don't think it was ever a double-neck as the front deck is slightly too narrow to fit a second C6 neck.
It is a 3 + 5 with undercarriage completely replaced by a steel builder here in the UK. If I had the technical knowhow and kit, I'd upload a few pictures but that will have to wait. I would love to know what particular make it is - if and Bud-Bros or sisters can recognise it from my description and Frank's fine pictures do let me know.
Plays and sounds like a dream - according to those who play well enough to tell! I love it. I've called it 'Lorelei' - the name of a mythological 'siren' that lured sailors to their death on rocks on the river Rhine. It was the sound of steel guitar, first recognised in 1970 with Red Rhodes' playing on 'Sweet baby James' that lured me - it just took 41 years for me to 'hit the rocks' and acquire my own steel. Also, Lorelei was the name of the Marilyn Monroe character in 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' - and, as far as Sho-Buds are concerned, gentlemen really do prefer blondes!
