So sad to hear this news. We just recieved a Christmas card from Wayne and Perceline day before yesterday. They are two of our dearest friends. Wayne, Barbara and I played lot's of golf on many of the steel guitar show trips to Hot Springs, Ar. Our deepest sympathies go out to Perceline and Rev's family.
Rest in Peace dear friend, we love you....

Brother Wayne was a great person who loved the steel guitar . He played the church service at the Dallas show with me and I always looked forward to him being there because he knew a lot more songs than I did. He was a great friend and person and will be sorely missed by all of us. Our hearts go out to Perceline and family. Our love,, Buck & Mitzi _________________ Music to light up your life |

It's so hard to believe that another one of the great people in my life has gone. Wayne was always an avid supporter of the gospel steel show. He was one of the reasons we always looked forward to putting the show together. He will be sorely missed, but is in a place where we are looking forward to going. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Perceline and all of Wayne's family and friends. I know their faith will sustain them through this tough time. |

So long for now Bro. Wayne. I will miss you greatly. Just save a spot for me right beside you. I'll join you down the road and we'll visit some more, and maybe, just maybe, the Lord will let us pick a song or two.
My prayers to the family. May God bless and give His comfort and peace. |

Perceline, This leaves a great void in so many of us.
I always looked forward to having Wayne pull me through on my sets at the gospel show with that smooth guitar. Our love and prayers are with you.

Wayne Smith was the first person to tell me about the Indianapolis Gospel Steel show headed by Doug Rolfe. Wayne and Jack Heern spoke to Doug on my behalf and were responsible for my having the privilage of playing that show for several years.
Wayne was a special friend. We had some wonderful times together.

Just a super nice person and I really enjoyed his playing and witnessing for JESUS CHRIST!
The BIBLE tells us in Psalms 116:
"Precious in the sight of The Lord is the death of His saints."
So it's a time of rest, joy and peace for our brother Wayne.
May GOD be with and comfort the family and friends as only He can!
