12 String Keyless with 7 floor pedals, 5 knee levers, and 2 arm levers. It is loaded now with my 12 String E 6/9 Tuning. I will just send the tuning chart that is on it for all of those interested. This guitar is not a standard factory BMI. It has many modifications. Those were done by a master technician Gene Turner. Power Boost 3 Tap Pickup, Brass rollers, Stainless Steel changers on each end, fretboard with inlay, swirl finish on end plates.

Nice. Zane, could you start a thread in the Pedal Steel section or email me with the particulars on how the BMI undercarriage/changers work.
I am not in the market for a guitar right now, but have always wondered about the BMI.
And, those arm levers are too cool.

This BMI has no issues at all. It belonged to me for several years. It is a push pull BMI and has a special pickup on it that you won't find, I don't think anywhere else. The pickup has what Zane Beck use to call the ZIG ZAG winding. The wire zigzags around the magnet not in a circular pattern like other pickups do. Zane used to do this on some of the old ZB's. It has a warm, FULLBODY sound, almost sounds like I'm talking about a bottle of wine.
The pedal action on this guitar is second to none. I regret selling it, I had to in order to purchase some PA equipment.
Our push-pulls are unique because of the design you can have up to 5 pulls on one pedal and it feels the same as if you had two pulls on that pedal. Why?
One change is for raising and the other is for lowering so the torque or tension is evenly distributed across the whole guitar instead of just on one end.
These models generally cost a lot more than the all pulls because you have two changers, more moving parts, more material and takes longer to manufacture.
Once they are setup, you have no problem with them.
I would not have sold this one to Zane except I have another one just like it and a 14 string. I'm playing Julian's tuning so this one was not being used.
One of the best guitars I have ever owned.

Thank you for the fantastic instrument! It looks great - now I just need to learn how to coax bearable sounds out of it. It's only uphill from here!
Can you shed any light on the history of the instrument (year manufactured, when the mod was done, etc.)? Maybe Dan could chime in?

That guitar belonged to Gene Turner. He made all the mods on it including the double arm levers. The pickup is a Zig Zag winding which is the only one Gene ever did. That little guitar is AWESOME. The pedal action on it is incredible.
The guitar is an early 80's model I think it is roughly 31 years old this November. You'll notice the horseshoe bridge is cut down and the swirl patterns in the metal. That's all Gene's doings.

Thanks for letting me know the history of this unique steel. For some reason, it seemed important to know that. I would have never guessed it was "born" during Reagan's first year as President - she looks half that age and is holding up mighty fine!
