Well Folks !!!!

Just a little more than a month away from the DINNY-MITE show (DSSGA) in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Although things are still not back to normal after the storm, we're gonna bring another storm to the coast for our December get together.

As usual, Bill Stafford has gotten his phone dialing and steel playing fingers working and we expect this to be the biggest one "EVER".

I'll let Bill jump in here and put names in here on the line-up.

We are still holding the "BIG SURPRISE" for later on and closer to the show. My good friend and partner in crime, "MIKE HOOVER' will be in the house with us and I can only say that, if it goes like Mike & I plan, We will have this special, mystery, surprise, player in the house for the show.

I can also say, "But not until Mike puts a lots of windshield time behind him".

Just stay tuned for further developments !!!

"Big Ben" has struck again! We do have a great event building for our Dec. 2nd DSSG Show. We will 'go back to our roots' and show appreciation to our steel legends that have given us all we know and have today in our music.
We will start with a full time day-long "SCOTTY APPRECIATION" day celebration. Giving proper respect to Scotty and Mary Scott for all they have done for all of us. This day will give all you players in the deep south a chance to meet, hear and visit with all these great steel guitar fans and players.
Howard White, another great "Roots of Our Music Legends" will be here from the Nashville area. Howard has too many credits to really mention here, but for a starter-he was playing with the legend Hank Snow in his early days prior to Kayton Roberts. Howard was an in-demand session player there along with Jerry Byrd. It was hard to tell these two artists apart in their steel guitar talents. This man will be appreciated very much here on the coast.
And the recently Hall of Fame Inductee-L.T. Zinn will bring another set of "Root Legends" to our house and stage this Dec. 2nd. L.T.'s presence will give us all a very good and inspiring "root legend history" lesson in person. A lot of us heard L.T. on the WLS Barn Dance and with the "101 Ranch Hands" famous band. He will have his double eight Epiphone on stage and give us the very pretty music he is so capable of playing.
Ivan Reddington will have his root steel-double eight National in house also. With Scotty, Howard, L.T. and Ivan this "storm of Bens" will take us all the way to the Hawaiian Islands in first class style. Especially with Gerald Ross, Bob Saxton and Ed Clark supplying the band music as it should be played. Great time in store here and we have not yet touched the steels and players these 'ROOTS' gave us.
Our pedal steel players will be in house chomping at the bits to top off this Scotty Appreciation Day.
Rob Parker will be on the program with his pedal steel. (Maybe Ben will be available to relieve Rob of the singing duties-if Rob desires a singer).
Joe Wright and Hank Corwin will start this line up off just right.
More later about the many players that will be on the program.
Everyone's support is greatly appreciated.
The VFW has already informed me that they will have steak and catfish for the evening meal. And I have heard noise that the Buras's will produce a few more pots of their original Louisiana Gumbeaux during the afternoon. Very curious about Ben and Mike's mystery guest. I have heard he is a true pedal steel legend. WOw!! Just think about hearing Hank Corwin, Joe Wright and this mystery guest plus all the Root Legends and all our regulay players, this will be one big day to really appreciate Dewitt and Mary Scott for starting all this.
Thanks so much to all for your great support.
I will provide a list of players for all to see as soon as I have it all complete.

I wanted to have a new column to mention the presence of one of our Deep South Legends-Buck Grantham will certainely shine on this day. And cogratulations to Buck and Mitzie for their upcoming Apprciation Award there in the Louisiana Community. Just like the great support Scotty gets from Mary, Buck is supported by Mitzie three hundred percent. We are so thankful for all of this talent in our deep south area. Thanks Buck and Mitzie.

Always good to hear from Buck and Mitzi. MY,,,,MY,,,,My,,, What some good folks !!!

Looking forward to seeing Scotty and hear him lay down them Jerry Byrd licks.

Bill: Rob don't need ole Ben sangin on none of his stuff. Dat boy knows he can sing !!! It's always a pleasure to see Rob.

I have confidence in Mike Hoover and mine and his attempt to kidnap that "MOUNTAIN MAN" down here for our show. The surprise guest we've been promising to deliver, usually takes bribes, threats, and all kinds of stuff to get him out of retirement. We'll keep ya'll posted as to the method Mike uses to make it happen. Just stay tuned !!!!

Lana is always a welcomed sight. She take that MC'ing to heart and does a great job and runs a tight show. Sides that she's purty.

Ben, glad you got your "threat machine" in good working order, Keep feeding it so that Mountain Man will be here.
Just heard from Barney Miller, and he will be back with us also. Hank Corwing and I are waiting to hear from Lynn Owsley. Hope he can make it so those two on stage together can bring the house down around all of us.
Can't wait to hear Bob Saxton and L.t. Zinn's program. Two great talents here folks.
More later.

I'm looking forward to the December show, I've had to miss too many lately. I'll be there with bells on, maybe some britches too. I know I missed a good one at Junior Martin's show, a lot of my favorite players were there.

Howard, so glad you are in this mix down. You have been missed.
Just confirmed with Lynn Owsley that he will be in house too. Anxious to hear him and Hank Corwin take us anywhere they want too. This is really getting to be a big celebration to show our appreciation to Scotty and Mary. And folk,, we must include Mary first of all, because without all the support she has given to Scotty, none of this would be happening. Hopefully we call pull off a great "Scotty Appreciation Day".
Pee Wee Whitewing will do his best to be in house too. Will know more on this later and keep you all informed.
Looks like a good one is building. See a lot of you soon.

It's always an honor to EmCee Gulfport but this is going to be a tough show to beat and how lucky do I feel? WOW!!! Thanks DSSGA for allowing me back in the South and the privilege to introduce these great players lined up. This is going to be the perfect prelude to my upcoming trip to Hawaii. Ooooo Doggies!

Ben you better be good now and take care of yourself. Stay off the ladders and all that manual labor stuff. Don't want you hurtin' yourself!! Besides, you're the only one to coral that Theawefuless fella.

Can't wait for 12/2! Ya'll come on down and join me for one of the best shows around.

Bill I'll be arriving late on Friday...are you hosting the Friday Frolic again?

Yep, the Friday night Frolic, is on!. Glad Ms Lana, MSGA, will be in the area.
Anxious to hear L.T. team up with our players-our very own, and different, Gerald Ross, Ed Clark and then putting Bob Saxton in that mix. (Our Gene Ross is from the Biloxi, Ms. area and plays the best rythmn guitar this side of anywhere. Sings like Gene Autry.( Will be a real delight to hear L.T. with Gerald-real steel guitar "root" music here). And then Mr Double Bass-Ed Clark - will certainely put the right closure to all the proper music sounds. And to top that off, us listeners will think that either Chet or Les must be in house from all the great sounds that Bob Saxton produces, Then there will be Scotty to top that off. This group just might play all night long. HOpefully Howard White can be enticed away from the casinos long enough to give us a few tunes from the Hank Snow era.
Contact me for directions should anyone desire to bere. Welcome to our Friday Night Frolic warm up for Saturday.

I'm planning on being at the 12-2 show. There's so many great players coming in already, so I think I'll just mix and mingle a little with everybody instead of playing. This will be a wonderful steel show and a good way to closeout 06' with a bang. See everybody on Dec.2nd!

Hey, I hope I didn't offend anyone with my remark. I was just joking. And maybe a little envious. I would love to be there and hear the great Bill Stafford again. And I'm still playing the Sierra U12 he designed.

Hi Perry, sure wished you were able to be here also and get in on all the fun we have here on the Gulf of Mexico. Glad you are still playing your Sierra-keep it up, it will last you a long tome. Thanks for your support.
Our end of the year show is really gaining its own momentum, as all our events here seem to do. We just lay back and enjoy all the good music and friends.
We want to show Mary and Scotty just how much they are appreciated for all they have done for our steel guitar world.
I will post a line up of the players soon. ( We just might have a jazz pianist from the Cayman Islands on stage). Can't wait to couple him with Joe Wright and Hank Corwin and Lynn Owsley. Hope he is able to be here. More on that later too.
Thanks again to all.

"Rob Parker in the house" is a very special honor to all of us. Will be our pleasure to have Rob and his steel guitar on the program.
Jim, lots of inspiration from all our guests and members. Will be glad to have you in house also.
I will be out of touch for a few days, Have to drive to Charleston, SC. to visit with a close relative in the serious stages of cancer.
And if it all works out that Jr. Martin and his family Cajun Band can be here, the good times will certainely roll. I recently had the greatest pleasure to listen to Jr. play his new D-10 Superb EXCEL. Watching this guy play that gorgeous Cajun Music, with all the hammers ons and hammers offs is a wonder in itself. This is one great steel player folks. Will know more about his appearance when I get back home next week. Thanks again to all.

Now I'm really excited, my boss gave me an early Christmas present by letting me have Dec 1 off - yippee!! Now I just need to decide if I am driving down Thursday night or Friday. Oh decisions, decisions. It's been too long between shows for me and I can't wait for one of my favorites. Either way I decide - Ms Betty, I'll be there in time for supper dishes!

See ya'll in December!
