I just realized the C pedal on my E9 doesn't engage string 5 on my steel. How do I make it bend that string up? I'm relatively new to the steel, and have no clue how to operate the under carriage components. Is there a tutorial somewhere? |

That varies by steel type. What kind of steel? There are, at steelguitarforum.com some different instructions.
It should prove straightforward to hook it up again, provided yours doesn't have missing parts. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

I can see the rod is still there at the end of the guitar. It has come loose from the "bellcrank" it attached to on the crossrod attached to the pedal. Turn the guitar over and the problem should be obvious, as should the solution. Hook it back up. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Hey, thanks a lot! It actually was attached at the cross rod just fine, the problem was it was incredibly loose at the tuning end. I tightened it up and it worked just fine. |

Yup. I had forgotten about that possibility. sometimes n00bs will crank on the nut for the C pedal trying to tune the A pedal. I have seen it go that direction and I have also seen it go the other, so depressing the C pedal breaks the string trying to raise it to a E or more _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Thanks, Joey. My Carter manual is pretty comprehensive, and this page has a lot of great info, as well: http://www.steelguitar.com/adjustments.html# My problem didn't seem to be covered anywhere. I just spent a good amount of time tinkering with the mechanics, so I think I have a better understanding now. |
