I’m looking forward to presenting my Lap Steel Seminar on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the SWSGA’s show in Phoenix. My two hour seminar will focus on some songs and exercises. Using mostly four strings of a C6th tuning, I will introduce some chords and their various positions, a method to develop your ears to hear melody to play a variety of songs. I will illustrate this skill with some traditional songs and some exercises to help you develop your own techniques and styles. I also will discuss bar technique and some techniques to develop steel guitar smoothness. I plan to gear the material to players of all levels. In addition, to help make the experience more productive, I will provide you with the music and steel guitar tablature, and also with a CD that is filled with the material that we will discuss. Included on the CD are the rhythm tracks and the steel guitar blended with the rhythm tracks. That way you can leisurely take notes, knowing that the material will be waiting for you to practice when you get home. Please let me know if you plan to attend. You can pre-pay the $40 ($5 goes back to the SWSGA) and be guaranteed to have the CD/ tab at the seminar. Hope to see you in sunny Phoenix.

Hello from MR.Boards

This is a Fantastic Opportunity to receive live personal instruction from a Virtuoso Steel Player - Instructor.

Supporting the Phoenix Non-Pedal Sessions in their beginnings is good for the expansion of these type sessions for Lap Steel in general.

I started being a Chuck Fan in the mid 1990's - we met in 2002 at the Dallas Jamboree and began the process to get the Non-Pedal Sessions going - they became a reality in 2005.

For those who do not already know: Chuck is a leading advocate of the Lap Steel at numerous major Pedal Steel Festivals.
For over a decade his talent and efforts have paved the way for the lap steel community to get a platform at what is a pretty much closed society of pedal mashers.

Bravo to Chuck Lettes for spearheading another Non-Pedal Session and Educational Clinic. Very Happy

Sounds like Chuck has a real program waiting for everybody........

I wish you every success and hopefully every serious steel guitar player will sign up for this event. It's a real opportunity to learn and acquire the necessary skills to become a truly competant steel player.

I wish I could make it but unfortunately I can't.
