Wow man,
I just learned of this amazing player. Is he from the U.S. ? He is defenitly one of my newer fav. players. What do you guys think of his style and playing?

| Tommy is indeed a Forum member. If you have just discovered his playing, you have an exciting world of new things to hear and be amazed by. He is an exceptional player. The more you hear him, the more you'll realize this. Do a search on YouTube, and get any CD of his that you can find. He is from the US, and his humble nature matches his tremendous talent. |

Many of us wonder if he's from this planet the way he plays 
One of the finest musicians anywhere around. He's from my city of Louisville Ky. He set the steel guitar bar way too high for many of us in this area. He and his Dad both played many clubs etc. here for several years.
He was knocking it out of the park when he was just a kid and continues to set new standards. Awesome player.
Of course he's gone on to be one of the most sought after steel players for sessions and other work in Nashville and country music as well as staff musician at the Grand Ole Opry for the last several years.

Excellant,
You can really tell that this man enjoys the instrument, and loves to play. It amazes me to see how much some players can accomplish. Hope I can play 1% as good as some of you guys one day.

Yes...the truth is he is a forum member...bless his little heart. He's been draggin around a little carter starter that's pretty beat up and just hangs round till somebody let's him play it.....the funniest part is that he thinks he's gonna be on.....now get this...the Grand Ole Oprey someday.....now ain't that a kick???
Seriously, Jeff....Ain't it great that people like Tommy White is a member here in the same place as you and I??? And Tommy pipes ups and has some things to say from time to time and most of us take notes and listen carefully. The guy is just class...

Each time I listen to Tommy I conclude that he's the best active player on the scene.
Then I'm reminded of my other favourites - Buck Reid, Randy Beavers, Steve Palousek, Paul Franklin - and it's no longer quite so clear! What a wealth of talent there is at the top of the tree!!! Aren't we lucky to have such players to inspire us?

Great stories about great people need repeating ever so often. Several years ago our boys arranged an anniversary trip to Nashville for Carlene and me. We attended a taping of the show that Gary Chapman hosted which I am not sure of the name of the show. Tommy was the steel guitarist. The youngest son, Terry, went to the restroom just before the show and Tommy was in the restroom combing his hair and talked with Terry. Terry told Tommy that we were in attendance. A short time after Terry returned to our seats an usher approached us and moved us down to the first row directly in front of the steel guitar. As soon as the show was over and the theme song started Tommy got up and came over to our seats and talked with us about 15 minutes. A neat sidenote was that Gary Chapman sat down at the steel and finished out the theme song and sounded pretty good. I had known Tommy since he started playing with The Whites but was still amazed and honored that he would give us special attention. There is none better than Tommy, playing and otherwise.

I think Chapman's show was "Prime Time Country", but I could be wrong. It wasn't Crook & Chase as they were the hosts of that show, not Gary.
