I am showing you a picture taken when I was 9 or 10 years old.
I had taken guitar lessons for a while on my large bodied Oahu acoustic guitar and participated in a music recital put on by my instructors, Pat and Evie Griffin.
This was my first guitar and sure wished I hadn't traded it in on my Gibson

Hey Erv, your pulling out some old ones for sure.
I will say, the Accordion dealer in that neck of the woods knew every steak house by name, as he drove by in his new Cadillac.

Fred,
Yes my instructors were a Wurlitzer dealer. Wurlitzer loved them!
When I wanted to buy a Fender, I contacted the local Fender rep. and he got them lined up to be a dealer for them also. |

Yes, I believe he is. I never really noticed that until the other day. His dad must have been a Wurlitzer dealer also! 
To my lower left are a set of twins, one with an accordion and the other with a lap steel. They are my cousins and presently living in Santa Fe, NM. |

What a racket all those accordions must have caused! I couldn't stand the one I created as an unhappy squeeze student, especially after not getting the drums I wanted... I wonder how many of those kids in the pic stuck with their instruments and became pros?
I can't even image having a great Bakelite as a kid, and the one pictured must have had a family member who loved steel!

She took lessons from the same couple that I did.
That Oahu guitar I'm holding is a square neck lap guitar. |

With all those acordians, I am wondering in what city was this picture taken? I am going to guess Milwalkie, Ws, The polka capital of the U.S.

That picture was taken in a little town in Minnesota; Silver Lake.
There are a lot of Bohemians and Polish that live in the area. In fact, there are two Catholic churches in town, one for each ethnic group. The best accordion player in my troup, the "Country Cousins" was a Bohemian, an excellent accordion player.
She still plays her accordion and also piano and organ in church. |

Hey Erv, all those accordians remind me of a music store in Duluth that taught accordian. Johnny's Music (the Accordianairs [sp?]). I bought my first electric guitar there back in 58(?) O to be young and thin again (lots of hair too )

You haven't changed a bit!
No, we didn't all play at once.
I believe there were some ensembles and some solos but not all together.
That would have raised the roof off the place!  |

I had an Eharp steel in 1963 just like the kids to your left. Still have most of the lessons from the course, too.

There are quite a few steelers in that picture.
Most are playing acoustic guitars. You had to be well along with your playing before you were given the opportunity to purchase and play an electric guitar. |
