I'd like to announce that I'll be playing a solo show at Barbes in Brooklyn at 8:00 on Thursday, November 9th. I'll be playing material from my new CD 'Secret Steel' (available on the Forum or at gigs) with a fantastic band, including Double Bassist Linda Oh, drummer Robert Perkins (did a CD with Charlie Hunter) and guitarist Doug Wamble. (who is a country-jazz monster, 21st century style).

For those of you in Austin, I'll be playing at Guerro's on South Congress this Sunday, between 3 and 6 with Tex Thomas and the Dangling Wranglers. And of course, I'm very happy to be appearing at the PSGA convention in Connecticut on Saturday and Sunday, November 11 and 12.

The details for Barbes are:

9th Street and 6th Ave. in Park Slope, Brooklyn. (718) 965 9177. 7th ave stop on the F train. www.barbesbrooklyn.com

I hope to see you there.

Hey Lucky, long time no see. My old band "Tokepela" played many gigs with the Wheel and Cody, when you were still in the bay area ('71 or '72). Nice to see you are still playing steel. Drop me a line if you ever get back to the West Coast.

Have a great time while you are here.

Hi David,

Thanks for the hello. I remember Tokepela well. I see quite a bit of formerly Santa Cruz based musician, fiddler Wayne Goodwin, in Australia.

Lucky I won't be able to get away from centrel PA but I'm glad you were part of the Wheels live Las Vegas experience in 1996.

That was the trip that changed my life towards many visits to Austin.

HI Lucky, I used to eat at Under The Blue Moon when I lived in Philly. Your folks were very nice, even when I told them I played steel.

Hey Lucky -
Missing you at Guero's right now, a rare Sunday I'm not home, but here in quaint Wilmington NC with the Kevin Fowler Band, making first contact into the Southeast, opening for Robert Earl Keen.....

Sorry to have missed you, glad to see you're doing well....

Thank you very much for your kind words, Bill - you are a true gentleman and a beautiful player.

Thanks also to Janice - i hope that trip changed your life in a positive way.

Arty - good to hear from you.

Bo - my parents are just that kind of people - accepting everyone, even steel guitarists.

Lawrence and Howard - I hope to see you in Brooklyn.

The final band has been confirmed and it's a good one - Matt Munisteri on guitar, Linda Oh on Bass and Diego Voglini on drums

Lucky, I talked to Bobby Black at the San Jose steel jam last weekend, and mentioned to him you were here in the US, he says "Hi", and I just wanted to pass that on. Of course he's playing as stellar as usual

Whoever is going to attend the PSGA Show this weekend is in for a real, rare, treat.

I stayed for both sets last night and was thoroughly overwhelmed at the versatility, creativity, and fluency of Lucky's musical skills.

Both necks with equal proficiency. Jazz, Cajun, Irish, funk, Sacred Steel, minor blues, surf noir,.......not one dull moment.

Lucky's style is original and versatile.

BTW, Lucky, I'm sorry that I threw up on that guitar you were playing....I cleaned it off as best I could.....let me know if I missed any chunks.....

Yeah, that was a shame, Howard, although it helped to hide that scratch I put on the guitar when I knocked over the music stand right across the front apron. Your contribution almost likes like birds-eye if you don't look too closely.

Ditto on Howard's review--I only could stay for one set but I enjoyed Lucky's wide range of style.
