Hello everybody,
I have for sale a BMI SD-12 that I recently traded my Lone Star keyless s-10 for. By recently, I mean last week
I had my Lone Star listed on Austin craigslist for sale. Dan was looking for that exact guitar and contacted me, so I traded did a trade with him so he could have a guitar that fit in the overhead compartment. I decided I would try the BMI out and either sell it or my 81' Sho-Bud Pro I, and after a few days with it I decided to keep my Sho-Bud, for the following reasons:
- I am 5'8", and this guitar sits about 1.5" higher that my Sho-Bud, so I am having a little trouble actuating the vertical knee lever. Sure I tried sitting on a telephone book but it just wasn't the same
- The string spacing is tighter than my bud, and me have short and fat fingers. I prefer the wider spacing of the Bud.
- I'm used to wider spacing on the Sho-Bud's pedals. I started off with a Fender/SB student model and have always preferred that pedal spacing.
- I can't get used to having 12 strings, or five pedals; specifically, jumping over pedal 3 to get to 4 and 5. I'm sure I could if I stuck with it, but I'm primarily a primitive (guitar player).
This is a beautiful guitar in great shape. It was recently set up by Jim Flynn, and converted from U12 to Ext E9th. The pedal/lever action is super smooth and the guitar stays in tune very nicely. In addition to Dan, this BMI has also belonged to forumites Loren B and David H, and has lived in Iowa, Texas, and the Great Pelican State (my home state). Geaux Bayou Bengals.
I got a good value on the trade, so I'll pass a good value to the next owner: will sell for $1125 shipped and I will eat the paypal cost. I'll post more pics tomorrow; in the meantime do a quick search of the forum classifieds and you will find a couple of previous postings of this guitar for sale.
If ya'll have any questions, feel free to email, pm, or call me at (512)963-0550.

Now this is a great deal!!!! This guitar plays smooth and has great tone. I went completely through this guitar when I had it and stripped it down to the body. I'm not sure what setup Jim put on it but I set it up extended E-9th with the Franklin changes on the 4th and 5th pedals lowering the 5,6,10,11 strings. Other than that it was setup standard Emmons. If I didn't have too many steels right now it would be on the way to my house for sure!
Here is a clip of me playing this BMI. (I was just getting back to playing after nearly 2 years off so sorry for the lack of accuracy)
