Bob Hayes and Myself are talking a Steel In at the Comfort Inn in Greeneville Tennessee. It is right on 11-E and about 14 or 15 miles east of I-81.WE first we need to find out how may Steel players are interested in comming. We can get the meeting rooms all three that open to one large room for free if we can get 15 steel players to rent a room for the two day Steel In.It will be Saturday and Sunday until around 1 or 2
o clock Sunday Afternoon. They serve Breakfast in the morning at your cost. There is Ryans Restraunt, Waffle House Mc Donalds Wendys, Burger King and many more restraunts. The Rooms are $69.29 plus tax and you have to tell them it is for the Steel In.

I would be interested, but it would have to be a time when I could come. I am at Dollywood until November 1. I will be off some weekends, but not many.

This would be good. I'm not up to being a performer on steel guitar, but I'll offer to play fiddle for the show if my schedule permits. Hope Stoney can make it!

Sam, if Mike Archer is playing, I may just come down there to hear him....what a fine Gospel style steel player!
It'd be a good excuse to come down and see my southern buddies.

Tony, Take me with you if you go. I`ve never been to Tennessee. I trust your evaluation of Mike Archer as a fine gospel player, because you were right on when you described Sara Jory.

Having a copy of Mike Archers gospel CD and the tracks, you won't be disapointed with his playing. Great style and well put together, plus it's southern gospel at its best. I wish I could get there to hear him also.

Guys and Gals,
As of this moment we don't have a back up band! We are looking at using tracks..How ever there is a chance that we could get a band together using our own talent of the steelers that also play other insrument. Or i the interest is there..hiring a band or at least a rythm section together. The Greenvile Comfort INN is a very nice facility.. There are additional hotels near by, and all kinds of eateries. We are extending this invitation to Every steel picker or enthusiest that would like to attend. playing schedule will probably be made by draw..or based on time of arrival, or some fair and equal method. We may also have one or more "Round Robin" sets.to try to get all the pickers to play together and keep it a fun thing.Any idea's coments or recomendations will be welcomed!I'm going to ask some of our "Journeymen" pickers to give a seminar or twoif there is enough interwst! Please let us know who would be interested! Please post or send EMail if you are interested in any aspect of this jam. Vendors are also welcom and encouraged to attend.
Thank you

USING TRACKS ???????? How boring!!!! If there's enough steel players to have a show, you'd think they would know enough musicians to put a band together. Why not charge enough admission to pay a band?

Rick Campbell this is a Steel IN not a steel Show.Joe Sapp had a Steel In at his house and we all set up in his yard under a Tent and there were 15 Steel Players there and 1 Lap steel player.Joe played tracks and we all played with those tracks. We all had one heck of a great time. This is for steel players to play their Steels and have a lot of fun.We don't exspect to have a lot of people to sit and listen or dance. That is not our intentions.Anyone that wants to come let either myself or Bob Hayes now so we can start to plan things out.

Sorry, I didn't understand the terminology of a "Steel In". Have fun! In any case, I think East TN needs a steel show.

I'm hoping I'll get to make this. I play so much backup that I never take time to learn songs so this will make me learn a few.
Archer if you can make me sound like Emmons I'll be at your seminar and even buy lunch.
For you guys trhat have never heard Mike play, you're in for a treat!

Sam, I don't know if I can drive the 8 miles from my house to Greenville or not. Pretty long drive. Count me in, but sorry to say, I can't help out with the rooms. I am just too cheap and will force myself to drive the long 8 miles back homw. Didn't know you were in Greeneville. I'm up Hwy 107 towards Erwin, just inside the Washington County line. We gotta get together!!!!! You other guys, we are only a little over an hours drive to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Make a vacation out of it and COME ON DOWN!!!!!
