I just recently ordered a new one from Brad..everytime one came up on the forum I was too late.
What are you using for effects, power and speakers?
Anyone using it in front of a combo?
Also general information on how you use it and how you like it would be appreciated.
Brad has been REALLY helpful and informative.
Thanks |

Charlie I have used mine in a couple of different ways..in the rack I use a Peavey DPC750 power amp and a TC Electronics M300 processor ....and on occasion I also run it in to the power amp-in on the back of my Nashville 1000 (by-passing the DPC750 of course) ... _________________ 14'Zumsteel Hybrid D10 9+9

I had a rev for about 4 yrs and loved it but i down sized a bit, I dont play as mush as i use too. As far as effects you will get a lot of ideas from the forum and there is some realy good ones out there and wether you want to go rack or stomp boxes.
as far as speakers go if your using 12s the best ones i've found that i like better than any i've tried is 2 of the TCFC VB 12s from TC furlong, they are a raw speaker you can put in your own cabs or use his cabs.
They are the most balanced speaker i have found, and as far as power amps, i had the mosvalve 500, sounds great but about 32 lbs |

I have been using the Revelation for several years now. Most of the time I use, Stewart world 1.2 power amp, either a Lexicon MPX-1 or TC electronics M-350 unit for delay and reverb. I have a set of cabs with Black Widow 15s and another with 15" JBLs.

I started with another pre-amp and tried to use it in front of a combo 400 and 112.
I didn't not have much luck or get the sound I wanted.
ended up going with the Revelation, Stewart 1.2 and a MPX 550 Lexicon..
This set up has a good sound and I use 2 D-130 JBLs
Less power did not cut it for me. _________________ MSA 12 String E9th/B6th Universal.

Anyone using their revelation in front of a combo amp, or a class D bass amp, or even a PA Speaker? |

Hi Charlie. Yes, I used my Rev Preamp to drive one Nashville 112 and then later two NV112s. Now I use it to drive a TC Furlong CB12 Split powered cab, and sometimes I'll still hook up my one remaining NV112 to give a more stereo effect. The Rev will work very well in front of a combo. I just went through the power amp in jack on the back panel of the NV112. That effectively makes the combo amp a powered cab with all of the EQ coming from the Rev Preamp. |

Thanks Bill we're you able to hear an improvement with The Revelation vs.the preamp of the 112?
Do you prefer the split over the 112? Is the 112 modded?
Thanks |

Definitely! And it's not that I don't like that sound of the NV112 on its own, it's a nice sounding amp. ( actually they don't all sound alike...I had two, neither was modded, and one sounded much better to me than the other ) But the tube warmth of the Rev Preamp is very special and it offers a very flexible EQ compared to the NV112. I find the combination of the Rev Preamp and the CB12 Split even better and the awesome power in such a lightweight cab is hard to beat. The only drawback I can think of is the cost, which is considerable as you know. I was lucky enough to locate a nearly new CB12 Split on eBay which is a very rare find. |

Posted 16 Nov 2011 5:23 pm I have a question about the effect unit
|
|
The effect unit must be inputed into the back of the revelation PARALLEL so the entire mix of the effects unit can be mixed into the existing superior signal of the revelation. Since the effects coming out already are mixed together they can't be seperated between the 2 amps. Does anyone know of an effect unit that can do that. I'd like only reverb on one and all other effects in the other speaker so one is always clean. |

The revelation is a good unit... after using it a while it gets easier to get the sounds you want out of it.
Make sure you read how the color interacts with the treble control.
Play around withe Vari-Z control at different volume levels.
When I upgraded my reverb it seemed to improve the tone I got.
I wasn't un-happy with my old Lexicon unit but I was surprised at the improvement with the new MPX-550.
Not just the reverb was better but the over all tone was better. _________________ MSA 12 String E9th/B6th Universal.

Charile:
I'm sort of like "hook". Revelation with the Lexicon MPX-1 in the effects loop. As well I use the three wire set up that Brad told me about. Out of my side rack, I go into a pair of Nashville 112's, set about 3' on both sides of me. as for my ol' ears,,,its the only way to go. but regardless The Revelation is a unit I wouldn't do without. it's the best investment I've made in a long time.
Best of Luck
