I'm sure to get some grief from Basil for this one.....!
I will sometimes put together an arrangement from memory, rather than going to source material. I pick the bits I like from different versions, and do my own version.

This one kind of got away from me- recorded too quick- too fast a tempo. (This one actually could have used a drum track) A little messy, but I'm moving on....
I'm on a quest to record a dozen tunes by Christmas!

I hope that this recording effort is a warm-up for your appearance(s) at either/or both the Aloha International Steel Guitar Convention in Winchester, July 12-14, 2012; and/or the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Convention in Joliet, October 4-6, 2012. Cool

Aloha, Smile

Thanks for using real instruments! You know, if you play "sock" rhythm guitar you won't need a drum track Mr. Green

Nah! Twayn's right about using the guitar as the rhythm instrument. Rarely does a Hawaiian song sound better with a drum track. Keep it as is. Nice recording! Looking forward to hearing the other 11.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!
Actually, 10 more to go. I posted "Song of the Islands" a few days ago. That was the 1st one.
Taking a couple weeks off for a vacation with my wife, then I'll be back at it.
As long as that pesky "work" doesn't interfere!

Twayn: I like the real instruments too. Takes longer to record, but I really learn the song & arrangement by the time I finish! "Sock-rhythm"? I was wearing sandals with no socks, maybe that's where I messed-up!
Mitch: You're way ahead of me..... Love your stuff!

Drum track not necessary.
Guitar is the rhythm track. Uke has the highs.
To my ears, the bass track is not necessary, but OK.

Nice left hand.

I liked it.
