How do y'all DO that?
Five minute videos without a stutter, stammer or verbal backtrack.
Do you overdub the monologue, work from a script, do it in multiple takes til you get a good one or are y'all just that damn good? |

They may do multiple takes, but regardless, I think it is ultimately their level of confidence and ability to explain what they are doing so well. Yep, they're that darn good!

Clete, as prep for a requested explanation of a blues ride I do, I attempted a simple one on my youtube channel. Four bars, the ending of "Mansion on the Hill."
While not a train wreck, I discovered it ain't easy.
I wonder if tabbing it out in advance, kinda like cue cards, wouldn't eliminate the backtracking. I think it's that confidence thing

I actually run through the lesson several times making sure Ive got the correct positions, and the "flow", hoping that the lesson will maintain continuity...I usually get it the first or second time I record...I then watch it several times, and try to follow my own direction. This allows me to double-check, for accuracy, or maybe broccoli between my teeth!..

I do everything in one quick take, right or wrong, you get mistakes and all. Possibly being an old time studio player where we all had to record this way helps, but one take is the way its done.
I really dont usually have time to do it any other way. Sure I make mistakes in my youtube vidios but it's not like it is going to be pressed for a major lable.
As you can tell Micky is a very good player and does a great job using his method.
My health may be good enough soon so I can start playing again soon, I hope so!

Bobbe, I dig how in your lessons, you share the subtleties.
Of course one of my favorite ringtones is sliced from your "Invitation to the Blues."
I dig that slow release how the B pedal stays active almost til the IV chord is done ringing. I don't even look at the text message til that pedal comes up. |

Nope
I usually take a camcorder with me when I visit Bobbe. He is a consumate performer in front of a camera. I have asked him in the past to record a message to a friend who was suffering the ill effects of a stroke. After just giving the merest of briefs to Bobbe, he then did a 5 minute message into my camcorder. Absolutely perfect first time and said with conviction.
He is a natural in front of a movie camera.
