Dave,
Thanks a lot for posting this. I still have my old record "Chester and Lester' recorded back in about 1976. Les Paul had been out of the public eye for a long time and joined up with an old friend, Chet Atkins. The two made two or three albums together and were an absolute "smash". All these songs were made "on the fly' with almost no rehearsal. They show an incredible amount of talent and the kind of playing from two guys who could "wing it".
Chet was probably the best all time guitar player and Les was just simply a master. They had the kind of talent you had to be born with.
I can't begin to say how much I miss them both.

I had those old lp's, seems I remember in the liner note,Chet wanted to redo some things,Les said something like, just let it go I'm out of here. If there were ANY flubs on these lp's I never heard them. They did'nt need to spend several days in the studio punching in and out or over dubs, that nailed it the first time. YOU BETCHA,DYK?BC.

Charles, I heard something along those lines, too. I believe in fact that Chet assumed they were just doing a practice run and Les said no that's it.
Really like the way Les let's his sense of humor come out in his playing. Chet did too for that matter, just a little drier wit so with him it was a little more subtle.
Both of them true treasures.
