Topic: Stolen Desert Rose Returned home in 10 months |

It is true I got my Desert Rose back. It went on ebay and then the guy that had it on ebay called Chuck Back to check the SN and Chuck told him it was stolen. He had bought it in a flee market in San Jose, CA for $300 - all he wanted was his money back and I gladly sent that so my Desert Rose is home.
Several told me I would get it back but I thought it was tooooooooo good to be true till I saw it.

...just curious, but how do you know HE wasn't the one that stole it??

| Great, Great News Joe. Anytime somebody is selling something that they stole and get caught with it, it is usually the same story. I bought it at a Flea Market. Then if you try to pin them down about which Flea market and a description of the vendor, they all of a sudden "don't remember". It would be interesting if the police would do a background check on this guy that put it on eBay. I suspect he knows a lot more than he is telling, but maybe not, who knows. Too bad it cost you $300.00. I think you could have beat that if time and money would have made it worth while to pursue it through legal channels. If you have stolen property, you have to return it to the owner for free. You can't charge them for what they already own. |

I tend to think you did the right and reasonable thing to give him the $300. I agree that technically you probaby had a case just to have it returned to you. But, assuming the guy who bought it did not know the status (he DID check into it), it doesn't seem right to penalize him either. If someone else bought it, you might have never seen it again. Sounds like a nice ending all around.

OK guys this was not the guy that stole it because he filed a very detail description of the people and detailed location of the booth with the police. (I have a copy of the report.) This guy is honest, retired and wants to make sure he does not deal in any thing stolen. He simply buys and sell stuff.
He could have told me alot more than $300. When Chuck told him it was stolen the immediately pulled it off ebay and had given Chuck his phone number for me to call. I called him several times and sent him a personal check (my mistake - rather than a money order or bank draft check)he shipped me the guitar before the check even cleared. He gave me his address, email and anything I could have ask for.
THIS GUY IS HONEST AND I AM HAPPY TO FIND THAT THERE STILL ARE GOOD PEOPLE OUT THERE.
