Today is the 29th anniversary of the induction of Marty Robbins into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and here is the newly released photo of the cover of "Twentieth Century Drifter: The Life of Marty Robbins," to be published in February.

As most fans know Marty was born in Glendale, AZ - we are lucky (if you like Marty Robbins) We just had his birthday celebration - which is a show that is always a sell out. The couple setting behind me went to grade school with Marty so at the break in the show I got to hear some "growing up" storys about Marty.
There are several singers that do a great job on Marty's songs. Billy Easton (who is on the forum) with his band - 3 wheel drive- (there is 5 of them) plays the show plus Ray Harrison that is also on the forum sings. The way this show works, since there are lots of great singers that sing, each singer sings one song in each half of the show.
In addition to this show in September there is another one in AZ. A few years ago the museum was moved to Willcox, AZ and in March there is another show down there too.
Thanks for the post I will be looking for it - there is another book they sell at this show written by a guy in Glendale - more details should come on here soon.

"Twentieth Century Drifter" is a song Mary wrote about race car drivers. When you read the book, you'll learn how the drifter persona fits Marty. _________________ Diane Diekman

Great idea and I am looking forwarding to giving it a read.
Since moving to the Phoenix area I have been lucky enough to learn a lot about Marty - there was a lot more to him than what lots of people know.
I always enjoy learning about musicians / singers, etc.
