The only thing I can remember about him was his version of 'Drift Away' - a song that was a big hit for Dobie Gray. _________________ Sho-Bud Pro III + Marshall JMP 2204 half stack = good grind! |

I got to work with Narvel back in the '70's. He is one of the nicest and most talented people I ever met. I recently ran into John Gardner who was Narvel's drummer back then. John is now working with Don Williams and still doing a great job. |

Great song..love the opening guitar lick.Narvel is probably best known for "Reconsider Me"...Johnny Adams does a killer version of that also. |

Been a fan of Narvel for years,Saw him awhile back on that show on RFD,Midwest country. Like me he's getting a little ragged around the edges,But can still hit those falsetto notes right on pitch. That's nice Virg. Thanks. Always been a big fan of Narvel's. I have an LP from around '75, Reconsider Me on Dot records, Slip Away, I May Never Get to Heaven, Gone, Funny How Time Slips Away, and others.
About 4 or 5 years ago, he was scheduled to be at one of the local jamborees where I was sitting in. We were sent all the program material, charts, CD etc. For one reason or the other, he had to cancel so I missed getting to play with him.
I think he was doing the guitar work. I can't find the paperwork at this minute, but I recall some rockabilly mixed in with the country/soul numbers.
Unmistakeable voice when you hear it with tons of range and emotion behind it. The epitome of the word "Stylist". |

We were on the same bill as Narvel a few weeks ago in Sweden. We also sang backup vocals on some stuff that I think he did originally with the Jordanaires?
What a lovely chap! No airs or graces, just a genuine, nice guy. Had breakfast with him the following day and he was just one of the boys. |
